The other day I got an email from a very sweet girl. She, like me, loves interior decor and felt like her home needed a little bit more of "her" in it. She lives at home with her parents and siblings and they have a totally different style than she does, not to mention she shares her room with her little sister. She asked me what she could do, decor-wise, to make the space feel like her own. In my newsletters, I always talk about the importance of domestic bliss and creating a space that nurtures and supports you to be the best version of yourself. So, my advice to this sweet young decorista. . .create a vanity area in your room.
Why? Well for starters, a vanity is a confidence builder. When you get yourself made up and dressed you feel more confident and ready to tackle your day. I like to place frames with pictures I love and inspiring words and phrases all around. I like to keep my favorite candles and fragrances at my vanity so when I'm there I get a little bit of aromatherapy. Keep little boxes and trays filled with your favorite things. Put a beautiful pillow on the chair. Keep fresh flowers in a pretty vase or cup to delight your eyes. There are so many things you can do to personalize your vanity space to make it your own. Even if you don't have much space, you can replace your bedside table with your new vanity. Here are two chic vanity looks I put together to inspire you, depending on your style.
