I was reading a book the other about building your sense of style. How much what you wear impacts your life experience. Are you thoroughly expressing who you are by the way you dress? Or are you expressing the creativity of somebody else? For some reason this really hit home for me.
How many 'home tours' do we see that look exactly the same?
I mean, no offense to the sites out there that capture fashion bloggers homes on the regular, but there are quite a few that look almost exactly alike. Same art on the wall, same rug, same pillows, bedding, etc. I always want to encourage creating your home style to be so unique, you can't even "get the look" somewhere. I don't create my get the look series with where you can buy exactly this or that item but where you can get inspired and buy something similar.
Do you feel me?
I came across this living room by Wendy Labrum, photos enhanced and made so soft and beautiful by the lovely Rosaline. What I love about this space is that has it some classic + trendy pieces but paired with things that are unique and one of a kind. Let's break down the look:
First of all the color palette just soothes my soul. White walls, black trim and touches, pops of creams and lilacs with a hint of animal print. Can't get enough of this fabulous mix.
Let's just begin with the most stand out piece in the room. This black 3 arm light chandelier is just contagious. I can't hide my love for the contemporary light piece mixed with traditional beauties. I am also pretty sold on the chic look of this coffee table. The seating in these rooms have such great lines, very sophisticated and chic. A pair of leopard chairs is a winner for sure! I love the pop of lilac too, try a tufted lilac sofa like this beauty for the same appeal. Lucite and brass work so well together in this Modshop piece. I love it. Black and white stripes are truly the staple here that makes the room pop. I understand if thats too stark, so try adding a little bench like this adorable zebra one. To enhance the space, get yourself some affordable black and white abstract art prints and place them in gold frames. Gold mirrors make the space sing, get one with a French twist. Place small table lamps with black shades to add some zest. I love these buffet lamps. Candles always make a great accent. Love this leopard and black one.
