Being a mom can be so hard. Instagram really makes it look so easy but I am learning just how defeating it can be at times. This week, Roman and I both caught the stomach flu. It was not a pretty sight in our household. It’s kind of like, the second you feel like you’ve got this whole system down, something comes out of nowhere and completely changes things up. Definitely keeps life incredibly interesting. I have always been someone who thrives on routines and consistency….so not in my element this past week.
Because it is Sunday ( my favorite day of the week ) and the day we are finally feeling better, I felt like I would create a new column here on the blog for you….the Blissful Brunch. A round up of sorts where I share the things that are currently saved in my bookmarks, full disclosure they are the things that kept me feeling blissful while my family and I were in the misery that is the stomach flu and couldn’t record a new podcast episode for you. I promise that will come soon. But, its going to be all the things I would tell you over brunch with girlfriends….get it? Hope you enjoy. Cheers.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
This week has been so rough on my personal confidence. Feeling sick really got my skin looking so clogged and I knew I needed a skin makeover quickly. Yesterday, I took myself out to a mani/pedi. That is always just the thing to pull you out of that feeling frumpy funk, isn’t it? (I went with OPI Mod About You, its a light pink and one of my favorite Spring colors.) Anyway, I also gave my face a fresh Aztec healing clay mask. I suppose I can do a post specifically about the process I use, but first let me encourage you to pick yourself up some of the clay. It is true magic.
In the spirit of beauty, I have serious brown spots on my face. I am dying to try the Skin Ceuticals C E Ferulic. I hear it really helps with the sunspots, lord knows I need that in my life. I’ve also been using the Bliss glycolic peel pads, you use them at night before bed and I love how they feel but I will report back after I have used for a few more weeks.
I did a partnership post with Wayfair for their big Way Day sale and I did some shopping myself. We decided to get a desk for our living room area so I have plenty of space to work while Roman is playing around. This glass desk was our final pick. This isn’t our forever home, its a temporary space so we wanted something that could go anywhere. We love it! I hope I do not regret this as Romans cute little fingerprints are all over everything.
WHAT TO WATCH:
If you have not seen the Architectural Digest peek inside of Kerry Washington’s Home in New York., you must. It is absolutely magical in my humble opinion, I am really loving the design and style of the modern yet cozy space.
On the basis of sex. The movie about the life story of Ruth Bader Ginsberg actually brought me to tears. I just really thought it was such a compelling story, I highly encourage you to see it.
Now that I live with two male humans, I don’t really get to have the feminine space my soul truly longs for. So I watch things like Janice Joostema (girl crush) and her beautiful home makeover with The Cross. Oh, the things I will do for a glimpse of pink.
WHAT TO READ:
Currently on my nightstand is Brain Rules for Baby. I am really trying to understand how to help Roman develop intentionally. It’s also fascinating to me how the baby brain works. I’m obsessed.
I love a Kardashian. Especially Kourtney, I’ve always related to her (She’s a mom, fitness lover, design enthusiast, etc.) Her now lifestyle site is out, Poosh.com. Too cute. I really loved this write up on how to grow stronger nails, something I have always struggled with. Oh, how I miss pregnancy nails.
We have seriously been bingeing on Game of Thrones around here. I can’t wait for season 8.
WHAT TO WEAR:
I’ve always been a kimono girl, especially in the summer so my kimonos and robes are always out and about. The one I am wearing in the photo above is from Kim + Ono. I have two of them and I absolutely love them. They are perfect for mom life at home, easy to throw on and wear around so you feel comfortable and glamorous at the same time.
Have you seen my jewelry line? It’s something I have poured my heart and soul into. It’s been selling out and I am in the process of creating more. So, If not you must take a peek at these earrings, they are so flirty and feminine yet spiritual at the same time. I hope you love them as much as I do.
WHO I LOVE ON THE GRAM:
Let’s be honest. We are all in love with Instagram, am I right? I try to fight it but to be honest, I have been so inspired by so many these days. Currently my favorite follow is a beautiful boutique, a little hidden gem called @bonbonvintagesarasota . A store filled with all the Shabby chic goodness, antiques, decor, clothes, jewelry. I literally am buying everything from there lately. Especially the clothes, which they import Italian silk dresses you would die for. Take a look at the feed, its divine.
HAVE A BLISSFUL SUNDAY, BEAUTIFUL. XO
