My very first memories of being inspired by design always came about by film. I love watching movies and would often watch them over and over because I was so in love with the movie sets. I can remember driving my parents crazy because I would want to re create a room from a movie for myself which would entail paint, furniture makeovers, etc. I was obsessed.
Period films are my favorite to this day because of the stunning castles and extravagant decor. I have also always found old Hollywood glamour to be incredibly intoxicating. The stunning Hollywood stars and glamorous rooms they spend time in. I've always felt very connected to that vibe.
Hollywood regency & Hollywood glamour have always influenced my design work. The 'golden age' in films was around the 1930's and producers wanted sets to complement the movie stars so no set was short of opulence, glamour and gold, of course. Think bold, beautiful, luxurious, glamorous, glittering, etc. Think Frank Sinatra music, delicious smells, candles everywhere, soft lighting, luxurious fabrics, deep colors, just about everything will enchant you.
I can sum it up to one word. . .drama. Oversized anything and everything. Shining walls, lacquered pieces, gilded gold and stunning silvers. Mirrors everywhere. Just imagine yourself coming home, putting on your silk robe and sinking into your space with a beautiful cocktail.
Here are some Hollywood glamour inspired interiors that I adore. . .
