I've been such a fan of entryway style for so long. The entryway is the statement area in your home that makes the first and biggest impression. It's essential that it is every bit as fabulous as you are. Personally, I'm not a total fan of the California cool look for my space but I do think this vignette at Erin Featherston's home is quite beautiful. I'm more into high glam than I am into a laid back look but something about this gorgeous wood console just calls out to me. It's absolutely stunning.
After checking out the rest of her home, I also fell hard for this brass and glass console table. Wouldn't she also be such a fabulous entryway beauty? It really got me thinking about entryway consoles and how they can almost be a piece of art in themselves.
Console tables I love:
THE POWER OF A MIRROR.
I love mirrors because you can see yourself and give one last quick check before you walk out of the door. You also bring in light by adding a mirror, which typically works out well because the entryway can tend to be a tight area. Although if you have large windows with a lot of natural light (see photo above from OKL) that doesn't have to be the case.
A few of my favorite mirrors:
I have been obsessed with this console table style by my girl Brisa (follow @la_brisa_del_mar). It's simple, high in style and totally her personality. I love every bit about that. It has to say everything about you.
MY PICK: WALLPAPER + ABSTRACT ART
As much as I love a mirror, glamour is all about layering. Think of boutiques and window displays on Fifth Avenue, its all about the layers. Pairing a beautiful wall covering with a fabulous piece of artwork will always be impactful.
Now this entryway is totally high style. Graphic wallpaper, fabulous art and some chic accents. YES! (Photo via Domino)
A FABULOUS LAMP.
Many people would probably say that a pair of lamps is best because it keeps a vignette balanced however I am never one to underestimate the power of a fabulous lamp. In my entryway, which I will share soon, I have one of my favorite thrift store finds ever. A brass lamp that was 3 dollars with a black and gold shade. I have only one and it looks so fab in my entryway. It's really all the light I need so it totally works. Pick one statement lamp to really make for a unique look.
STOOLS + POUFS + CHAIRS
Seating in the entryway can be so fabulous if you have the space. A pair of chairs is such a win because it looks chic and you can sit while putting on or taking off shoes. I ask all of my guests take their shoes off so having a seat just makes it so much easier. If you don't have room for chairs, poufs and garden stools are totally the way to go. They can fit right under a console table and add another layer to your entryway style.
A few more to inspire you. . .
