With Easter approaching (also the day my little man turns 10 months old) I can’t help but dive right into table top inspiration. I have waited my whole life to celebrate Easter with my own children. Nothing was more fun to me as a child than a good Easter egg hunt. We grew up loving Easter. Now, as a mother, I reflect on my childhood so much more and in the spirit of reflection and mindfulness, I’ve been really thinking about what I want to create with this holiday.
What I have come to learn about life, giving is is living. So, how can I fully embody the giving spirit for Easter? Create a magical and memorable holiday for everyone involved. The grandparents are atop my most important this year as its their first Easter with Roman. I also want Roman to experience hunting for fabulous eggs with his cousins. Maybe the eggs could be pretty pastels, sparkly and filled fun fun things like slime and money! Everyone involved should have a fabulous time.
A few things to keep in mind for creating your own memorable and blissful Easter.
PRACTICE MINDFULNESS. In order for everyone to have a truly memorable experience, I think it’s important that we live in the moment. Meaning, maybe meal time should be phone-free. Perhaps there is a fun game we play at the meal or just a question that could get answered around the table. Really connecting with one another and fully listening. How fabulous does it feel to have a listening ear next to you. Maybe that’s the ultimate way to give.
SURROUND YOURSELF WITH BEAUTY. No one loves a beautifully decorated table more than me. My grandmother used to put out her cabbage plates for Easter. They always looked so beautiful on the long tables. Candles, flowers and beautiful objects would always adorn her spread. She had freshly ironed tablecloths, embroidered napkins, gorgeous glassware. Everything she put out was the best. Not only did it make for a beautiful spread, it made each person feel really cared for, supported and treated like royalty at her tables. That is a gift to truly treat your guests and loved ones with. I am currently obsessed with things from the ocean like barnacles, crystals and coral of course.
GET IN THE GIVING STATE OF MIND. Giving is the ultimate act of abundance. When you give to others, you are telling the universe there is so much more where that came from. You are a living, breathing example that we are all worthy and overflowing with love. Practice giving, whether that is throwing on an apron and helping out in the kitchen without being asked, bringing gifts for the hostess like games and a positive attitude, sitting down with a quiet relative and just listening to what they have to say. There are so many ways, no matter how small, that can make a huge impact on everyone around you. Go on your own Easter giving hunt, find more ways you can give. It’s such a fun game to play.
