If you have been following along with the Blissful Living Workshop, then you should have made your home bagua map. See how to do it here. I always like to do a bagua map for my bedroom because I feel like the most powerful room to Feng Shui is the bedroom. So today I wanted to give you a little peek inside my bedroom and you can see what enhancements I have made. I like to add a little glamour to anything and everything I do, so I call my personal process "glam shui" and I explain more of this in my book Blissful Living.
I'm always getting asked questions about how to use Feng Shui and I love to share the wealth of the wisdom. It’s an incredible overall wellness, holistic lifestyle that you can adopt. Something to remember, you can do Feng Shui at home, too! You don’t have to be a trained professional. At the end of the day, if you feel good about what you are doing, that is all that matters, your intentionality is the power behind the concept.
A FEW TIPS FOR YOU TO KNOW:
Learn you birth element. In the bedroom, I wanted a color that would nurture my quiet time and that would give me good rest. In my book, I talk about how each color represents different energy for Chromotherapy. Grey supports neutrality, introspection and stillness. It’s also a Metal color and my birth element is Metal. So the color feels nurturing to me at the core, it allows for me to have restful sleep. This is something that I work with my Feng Shui Flow clients, learning what specific colors work with your birth element so we can create harmony in your home. That was perfect for me. It's important to keep harmony in the bedroom and you can do that by having nightstands and lamps matching. That is a non-negotiable for me. Also, I prefer having a darker color on the walls and in my accents along with soft lighting. This way you can always be sure to get a good nights rest. Always make sure that the space underneath your bed is cleaned out, all the energy from clutter underneath your bed can affect your sleep. I also make sure that a mirror is never facing the bed, that can also disrupt your sleep.
Those are just a few of my bedroom basics. Now I will share with you a quick little mock up of my bedroom and the bagua map. In the West, we tend to place the bagua based off where the door/entrance to the room is. It will always be on the South wall. My door sits in the skills + knowledge area, so this is house the map works in my bedroom.
In each area, I like to do a little enhancement to highlight the energy.
The center of the room symbolizes health, this is also why you should keep the area under the bed clean and the bed always made. That's typically where the bed goes.
In the Wealth + Abundance, the correlating color is purple, so I like to keep a purple orchid in that corner at all times. Any plants or flowers are always good because it brings life and vitality to that area. I will be adding a plant to this corner soon. I also keep a few gold things in this area, gold = abundance and wealth.
In the Fame + Reputation area I have my print of Sophia Loren and she is just always someone who embodies glamour, sophistication and global awareness.
In my love + relationships area, I keep my meditation and journal zone. This is where I practice self love and care. The mirror reflects more of that energy out into the world. All things love go in this area.
In my creativity area, I keep my journals. Currently, writing is my favorite form of creativity. I also keep my camera here because I love taking photos too.
In the travel + helpful people area I keep my vanity. Heavy metals are important to keep in this area. Take a look at my vanity space:
I keep a painting of a view of Paris and a gold photo frame of the Eiffel tower. I also keep gifts from friends and business cards of any people I may need help from in the future. Again, a mirror to reflect more of that energy.
In my career area, right now I just have my TV and dresser. Black lacquer works super well in this area, which is what the tv frame is. I also keep a few black lacquer candle holders here. I plan on painting my dresser with black lacquer very soon, too.
In the skills + knowledge area I placed my awesome lucite chair with a little sidetable stacked with my favorite books and a lamp to read. This is where I read my books and learn new information.
This is my little meditation tray where I keep crystals, candles and incense for when I meditate. I either do this in the love area or the knowledge area. The meditation pillow makes sitting on the ground so much more comfortable.
Working out the FENG SHUI FLOW in your life will always lead to your overall health and wellbeing. You won’t recognize your life after you implement the wisdom. I’d love to help you get your life in flow, too!
All of this can be a little woo-woo for some but for me, I find it enhances my daily rituals. When you bring intentionality to anything you do it makes life more blissful and it just feels good. So, if you feel like you could use a little bit more bliss or shaking up of your energy, try adding a few of these Feng Shui enhancements.
This is my absolute favorite book on the topic, Move your stuff, change your life. I suggest you read that and also my book Blissful Living for a few more basics.
