Over the weekend I did a pretty good job of getting some good work in and at the same time relaxing and enjoying this gorgeous weather. I have a client right now that I am renovating the bedroom suite, meaning master bedroom, bathroom and closet. What I am most excited for this particular project is that its a little outside of my comfort zone. I love stretching my creativity and fulfilling a clients truest desires.
For this client, they want a bedroom that is zen, bohemian with a little bit of a romantic Parisian flair. Not just one style but an environment with an experience of romance, spirituality, tranquility, a spirit of travel and a connection to their Earthy personalities.
Each aspect of setting up this space is going to require paying serious attention to detail. I want to draw inspiration from romantic hotel rooms I have seen with a global design flair.
For this project, I think I am going to go for a faux textured wall like this deep brownish gray one below. I love the way it looks next to flowing white fabric. It will also be enhanced by all of the subtle low lighting, candles and layered bohemian accents. To get the boho look without going too hippy, all you need to do is choose your accents wisely and layer them beautifully.
While I do love wooden and carved headboards for this look, I always encourage my clients to lean towards fabric headboards. They are super soft which makes the whole sleep experience cozy and romantic.
Layer up your bed. Nothing says romance and bohemian like piles of pillows on the bed. All the fabric is luxurious and welcoming.
