These last few days of Summer are beginning to feel endless. Oh, how I long for Fall weather. Here in Texas, the days are long and the temperature is hard to handle so we find ourselves finding things to do at home, so we don’t have to bear the heat. I am a homebody, I always love being at home but for some reason, when I am confined to the home, I tend to get a little stir crazy. I think J and Roman do too.
Being the Blissful Living woman that I am, I made a list to remind myself of the things I absolutely LOVE to do at home. Perhaps, I’ll add some fun twists to upgrade the experience and keep things fresh. Perhaps you can try some with me….
5 tips for making the most of THE FINAL DAYS OF Summer:
01 | HOST A DINNER PARTY
Dinner parties are always a great way to shake up the energy at home. Inviting in friends and loved ones into the home can enrich your home with beautiful memories.
A few things to remember…
-Choose people wisely, you don’t want to invite harsh, toxic or negative situations into your home space. As fun as it is to include everyone, pause and think before you send that invitation.
-Dress up. Give people the opportunity to put on their best outfits and really bring it. You can choose a theme to really make it fun and playful like a white party or floral fete.
-Set the table. Styling up a table for a dinner party is so much fun. Give yourself the chance to shop those Summer sales (hello Labor day!)and get yourself some pretty dishes. Curate a look that can last through the seasons.
02 | CURL UP WITH A LEARNING BOOK
There is nothing like lingering around on a long, hot Summer afternoon with a delicious book. At the end of Summer, I usually crave some sort of learning, I guess its that ‘back-to-school’ energy. Right now gems and crystals are all I want to learn about so I have been reading these two fun books, The Crystal Healing handbook & Crystal Healing & Sacred Pleasure. I also love reading about entertaining this time of year. Entertaining with Style by Danielle Rollins is on my list I am dying to read next.
03 | CURATE SMALL VIGNETTES AROUND YOUR HOME
Whenever I feel like the energy at home is a little stagnant, I immediately get some fresh flowers and candles. I look around the house to see what areas are in need of a little love. Perhaps it needs a framed photo, a crystal or even just a little touch of greenery. Using a leisurely afternoon to enhance your home is a form of self care. When you look around and little areas bring you delight, you have invested in your sense of well being. Don’t forget to pay attention to that.
Fresh flowers will not only make a vignette pop, the smell can also be soothing to the mind, body and soul as well. Candles are also beneficial in two ways, the smell is fabulous and the flame brings an energetic balance to the other elements going on in a space.
To be in total Feng Shui harmony, fire is essential. Mokara by Voluspa is one of my favorite candles during the late summertime. It’s an orchid and moss scent that just feels fresh.
04 | ORGANIZE YOUR PAPERWORK
Before that September energy gets you back into gear, I do think it is important to get organized. It helps your mind to get calm so you can truly be present.
Most especially in things like bills, documents and files. You want to make sure that everything is sorted and easy to find when you’re in the midst of things moving fast. Now that I have a baby who is about to be in school, I have to keep his records and documents prepared and organized so I want to make it look elegant and chic.
Why not take a few days to make a pretty little documents file for yourself and your family? You can keep recipes, documents, coupons, receipts, etc. It’s actually a lot of fun to organize when things look pretty.
05 | CREATE A HOME SPA EXPERIENCE
I keep my bathroom like a full on spa. Mostly because whenever I actually get the chance, I take a long bubble bath. For one, its relaxing. Two, did you know that hot baths actually help your body to process toxins faster and help you to lose weight? Yes! It’s true. The heat in a hot bath causes you to sweat which increases the body toxin removal and it also speeds up the circulation of Free Fatty Acids which help the fat removal process. All very cool things to know.

I also use this time to really take care of my skin. I like to dry brush my legs, exfoliate my face and put masks on my hair. There are so many beauty rituals you can do in your bath to enhance your overall glow. On busy days, we tend to rush our beauty routines and the whole process, so when you can allow yourself to really soak and get some good spa like total body care. I love bath rituals, this is one of my favorites.
Currently my bath facial beauty routine consists of washing my face and neck with this Ole Henriksen Sauna Scrub, first thing in the bath. It’s smells so good, you can feel your skin working. Then do the mask, which let me tell you, is INCREDIBLE FEELING. Then, I let the mask sit while I work on my hair and scalp. I switch up my shampoo and conditioner all the time but the scalp cleanser I do about 2-3 times a week and it stays the same. The AVEDA pramasana is so invigorating. I use a scalp brush and do a deep scalp cleansing ritual. This makes my hair stronger and healthier. Then I wash it all out, and put on this Shea Moisture Mask. After that, I tend to my skin. There is nothing better than a good body scrub. By far, Rituals has been my favorite brand and I love the Ritual of Skaura. They discontinued the Himalayan Body Scrub which was by far my favorite, Bring it back please!!!
Make sure you drink water throughout the whole process, hydrating yourself is of the utmost importance. Then, when you are done, throw on one of these luxe kimonos and live your best life. xo
