I literally have been filming videos for Unleash Your Ista almost everyday. Each day, as I walk through my life as a girl boss and interior designer, I pay attention to what experiences come up for me. This is how I create the content I put into my online programs. I always get asked about how I stay inspired. Writing blog posts everyday, designing homes, creating content for ISTA, it takes work and it takes effort for me to stay inspired.
I was feeling a little un-inspired the other morning and one of my rituals I do when I feel that way, is to get dressed up and go shopping for my clients.
When I am out on the town, shopping at my favorite boutiques, I can draw inspiration for new ideas and projects. I've been looking for the perfect fabric to use for pillows for one of my clients in Austin, so I went to one of my favorite fashion stores, High Fashion Home. I intentionally went to buy fabric to jazz up the master bedroom.
I came away with so much more than fabric. I came up with some new ideas and inspiration and when you are filled up with inspiration, its easier to get your work done effectively.
I was inspired to reinvent larger spaces with wallpaper. I typically like to use wallpaper in small rooms so that the pattern really makes a statement. After seeing the patterns in the wallpapers here, I was inspired to play a little more.
I also feel so much for this shade of yellow. It pops so beautifully with the dashes of pink.
I also was really drawn to the oversized artwork and the uses of white and gold.
It's important to get out of the house when you feel depleted and un-inspired. Go to a museum. Go see a movie. Go to a hot new restaurant and try a new wine. Visit an independent bookstore. Sit at an outdoor cafe and watch the fashion that walks by. Take a new fitness class. Go for a run at a local park. Go to a candle store. Buy yourself flowers. There is always inspiration right outside your front door.
