If you are looking for a list of books to read to inspire your as a woman in business, you’re in the right place. This post is all about books to read for business inspiration.
It’s quite laughable to me how much I actually enjoy reading informative books over fiction or novels. When I was young, I loved reading stories like ‘the babysitters club’. They inspired me so much that I started a small babysitters club in my neighborhood, sort of. I have just always had that entrepreneurial spirit. To me, books are just magical. Perhaps that is why I have written a few.
No matter what it is that I am going through in life, I enjoy reading books about it. Self help, spirituality, relationships, parenting, business, etc. I love all of it. I would prefer an cozy evening in with a good book to a big night out, any day.
As of late, I have been on a major reading kick. It goes in and out for me. I recently discovered that my baby monitor works like a charm sitting next to me poolside while I am reading my book. Did you notice my beautiful stack of crystal jewelry I am wearing? Wink. Wink.
There are several books that I truly think will inspire you to follow through on an idea or to take action on your passions whatever they might be. As I develop my new ventures like podcasting, blogging, coaching, etc I have turned to books to keep my inspiration high. I thought it might be helpful for you, too if you find yourself looking for something to read.
12 of the best motivational business books for women entrepreneurs
01 | The Glitter Plan by Pamela Skaist-Levy & Gena Nash-Taylor
This is a really light hearted, uplifting and inspiring book. It’s good to pay attention to the fact that these two women have been able to remain partners for such a long time. More often than not, you see major solo acts. Lots of ego. I am always intrigued by partnership in business, so this is a book I will read again and again.
02 | Crushing it by Gary Vaynerchuck
This book is so relevant to our time. It really speaks to how to build an online presence, no matter what industry you are in. He interviews some really big hitters who have built wildly successful businesses using social media as a tool, their stories are so inspiring. It’s a MUST read. I literally have highlights on almost every page. It’s that goooood. If you don’t get motivated and inspired, I’d be very surprised.
03 | You are a badass at making money by Jen Sincero.
Oh, this book will get you. Listen, finances are an essential part of business, its important that your relationship with money is a priority for you. This read will help you to feel more comfortable with that and understand it a little bit better.
04 | How to be an Overnight Success by Maria Hatzistefanis
Another light read, which is nice. The goal is a little inspiration while out by the pool, am I right? Anyway. This is about a woman who worked her butt off to launch a very successful skin care company and her stories are very helpful for anyone with a passionate heart for their creation.
05 | The War of Art by Steven Pressfield
Now here is a real deep read, if that is what you’re looking for. Here’s the deal, all of us have something creative within us. Yes, all of us. More often than not, we are just resisting our calling. Read this and drop the resistance.
06 | Girl on Fire by Cara Alwill Leyba
Now, I may be biased on this book because it was written by my bestie Cara but this book is still so so so good! It will give you a good kick in the booty and a full confidence boost if you are looking forward to finally launching your brand or business. It’s an easy read, so motivating and will make the perfect light Summer poolside inspiration.
07 | The Diary Of A CEO by Steven Bartlett
I haven’t read this one yet but I listen to this podcast religiously. I have heard so many incredible things about this book being a business bible, so needless to say Diary of a CEO is at the top of my reading list.
08 | 12 Week Year: Get more done in 12 weeks than others do in 12 months by Brian P. Moran
This book completely changed the way I plan and organize my business. It will teach you how to best break up your actual year into quarters and plan accordingly. By far one of the best perspectives on being in business for yourself that I have ever read.
09 | Do Less by Kate Northup
As much as I love a good book on business by a man, the books by women are always incredible. What I love about this book is that it helps you understand how your time management should be determined by your body and energy, as a woman. We’ve discussed this before on the blog, a woman’s body energy is run on a 28-day energy cycle where a man’s is run on a 24 hour cycle. I highly recommend this for any woman, even if not in business.
10 | The Mary Kay Way: Timeless principles from America’s greatest entrepreneur
This woman is an absolute mastermind when it comes to business. I read this book twice and probably would read it all over again. She is the kind of woman who doesn’t take no for an answer and busts through any perceived roadblock in front of her. Her wisdom is timeless and you will walk away from this book inspired and feeling completely confident.
11 | Believe It by Jamie Kern Lima
I watched this woman speak at the Tony Robbins event I attended and she blew me away with her inspiring stories. I immediately ordered her book. Jamie Kern Lima is the founder of It Cosmetics and she has a story that is sure to make you feel ready to launch your own beauty brand.
12 | Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
Quick story, a good friend of mine Arielle recommended that I read Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert years ago when it first came out. I rushed out to grab it and read it quickly but I just couldn’t get into it. For some reason it just wasn’t speaking to me.
Years later, I read it and loved it. So, with everything, see how it feels for you. If it isn’t for you now, it might be later but each one of these books is definitely worth looking into.
Those are my top book picks for inspiring your inner boss babe. I also suggest reading my book, Blissful Living and Style Your Mind workbook. Both books will help you learn to show up as your best help to aid you in creating your best life so you can thrive and enjoy your career! What books have inspired you? I would love to hear, I am always looking to add to my collection.
