Lately I've been getting so many questions about virtual design, how it works, where I find things online, etc. Today, I thought I would share my thoughts on my virtual design work. Mostly because I love it, but I also know that many of you love decorating yourselves and sometimes are just looking for a little bit of help. Many of my clients need my full design services, however I've come across several of you who have fabulous taste, you just need a little help moving in the right direction. Perhaps virtual design is the right fit for you.
These days, online shopping has become the new normal. There are so many resources out there to find exactly what you are looking for online, instead of driving all over town searching for what it is that you need. With the emergence of so many design/decor related sites, you can literally see something in a room, click and purchase it. It's too easy.
With virtual design, its that easy. Everything can be done via email/cell phone. You can just take a few snaps of a room, some important measurements and send inspiration images and that's all you need to. From there you receive, layout ideas, color palette inspiration, etc.
Making the right decisions. Knowing what to purchase can be the hardest part. This particular client had a specific vibe in mind when it came to her home and this breakfast nook was no exception. Sometimes, its hard to find EXACTLY what it is you are looking for. To achieve the look we were going for, we ordered these chairs which came in an off-white, and the client had them recovered in a black leather fabric we also found online. Voila! The perfect dining chairs. Sometimes, its about being creative in what you are trying to achieve.
Putting it all together. The best part about working like this is that its on YOUR timeline and YOUR budget. You can set a budget and take as long as you want to begin ordering and putting it all together. Sometimes when hiring a designer, you are doing things all at once, which is a fabulous way to go about dressing your home. Having the freedom and the time to do what you need to do, when you need to do it might just be the best part about it.
Progress. I love keeping up with the progress of each space I work on and seeing the pictures. If you have any questions about Virtual Design with me, just shoot me an email. I'd love to help you.
I had so many of you asking on instagram about these table and chairs. Below are the exact pieces we used for this space so far. I can't wait to show you pictures once the room is finalized.
