I think I am going to be talking BACK TO SCHOOL vibes all month long because, well, its my favorite season. When I was younger, the purchasing of school supplies was better than anything else. I can remember my most favorite gift from Santa was a chalkboard and a desk. I have always been obsessed with the whole work environment.
Needless to say, having a full on library in my home has always been such a not-so-secret little fantasy of mine. So when one of my clients introduced me to her home library, I was thrilled to take on the challenge and unleash my inner decorista dreams. Her office is all black, yum, and the back wall has built ins for days, yessssss!
I have so much vision for this space and we are coming up with some glam art for the middle and fabulous decor for the shelving. As much as I love to style up a bookcase with a ton of knick knacks and chic decor, I just have to share my first love and ultimate dream. . .BOOKS!
Don't be afraid of books. I loooooooove the way the colors of the spine pop against black shelving. It adds movement and texture to the space. It's almost like a really fabulous wallpaper.
Here are some of my favorite black, book filled libraries.
Now if you don't go all black on your library or office space shelving, I totally get it. There is also a way to make this look effortless and chic. One thing I love to do is turn books backwards, especially with white walls. The neutral hues on the pages just look so soft and peaceful on a lighter colored wall.
If you have bookcase envy like I currently do, here are some you can purchase to get the look:
