Now that I have to shop for my home decor all over again, I'm trying to get excited instead of being completely overwhelmed. Losing everything can be completely disheartening, especially when you love your belongings so much. What I have noticed is that color really makes me happy. I've been so drawn to beautiful bold hues instead of the usual black and white obsession I'm always on. During my shopping trip to Target for new towels, I spied the November issue of House Beautiful on stands and the cover was absolutely gorgeous. It made me ridiculously happy! Miles Redd just killed it with the dark blue walls and chartreuse chairs, a color combination that I feel is one of his signatures. I have never used it but I realized that it completely lifted my mood and made me so excited for the possibility of what I could do with my new space. Why not venture out with a blue sofa???!
Nick Olsen did it back in the day with his Manhattan pad in domino magazine and I remember loving this photo so much. I knew Nick used to work for Miles Redd, so naturally he would be a magician with color mixing as well.
L.A. interior designer + blogger, Aimee Song has a gorgeous blue tufted velvet sofa and I just think its so chic and glam. Why don't I try something different this time and go really bold? I've been wanting a grey sofa but blue is just right in time for me. I'm pretty sure I will go with a more bold blue because I love the richness, but I like the pastel version too.
