I write very often on the importance of prioritizing self care. It's the one key component to confidence that a LOT of people don't really talk about. Most of us are taught that having the best figure, achieving a particular status or dressing in the perfect outfit are how you gain confidence but that is NOT really the case. While those are very solid fundamentals, the root of confidence comes through knowing who you are on the inside and what many people call self love.
So how are we to be sure we get to know who we are on the inside and love ourselves?
PRIORITIZE YOUR SELF CARE.
A very wise mentor of mine told me years ago, the only person who can give you everything you need is... YOU. At first I didn't quite understand it but after a while I've learned, It's absolutely the truth. I used to always be busy, work my butt off and never take care of myself. (I have the type of skin where I don't need to wash my face and its always good. Hate me for it, but yay for my latina skin!) This wasn't good though. Once I realized that taking the time to invest in what I put in my body, how I treat it, how I take care of my health and skin, it started to really serve me. I had to learn to slow down, be more intentional in how I prioritize my well-being. Overall I've noticed a HUGE change in my work, relationships, overall self-confidence and my skin started to glow in a whole new way. I also noticed that as I was being more intentional in my self care, I payed more attention to my feelings, to my needs and now I have a much better sense of self. (Which helped in decision making, learning to listen to my intuition, etc.)
So, for those of you who think you shouldn't be spending money on great skin care, healthy shampoo and conditioner, natural bathroom products and delicious bath towels. . .I'm hoping to change your mind and nudge you to get out of your comfort zone. I understand if you can't afford spending hundreds of dollars at the spa, so if that is you, why not create the ultimate, pampering, spa at home experience?
Here are some ways to turn your bath into a spa no matter what size:
I like to keep a few towels rolled up in my bath in a beautiful basket. Try these Fieldcrest luxury towels, they are my favorite, so soft and affordable.
Keep a beautiful glass pitcher of cucumber water in your fridge for an extra glam feeling.
Mimic the feeling of the steam room with a very hot bath filled with Kerstin Eucalyptus wellness soak.
This Medicell face mask will absolutely rock your world.
I promise you, this Rituals body scrub will absolutely change your life. I like to use it along with a good body brush to help exfoliate better than the spa.
I love richly colored robes but this light beige one is ultra plush and will give you that hotel spa vibe.
Try your hand with DoTerra Introductory kit, you can learn all the aromatherapy basics.
My favorite flameless candles are these from Pottery Barn because they come in great sizes.
