I've always loved the design sensibility of Kris Jenner. She's my kind of girl black & white everywhere. However, with the help of my girl Jeanette aka the color whisperer, we discovered how her interiors impact her empire. Today, we are taking a look into how important home decor actually affects the rest of your life. I am a huge believer that your interiors dictate your world (which I will write more on later)...
Millions of people tune in every week to see what drama is occurring with the Kardashians. And drama there is. We all face strife in our life, but it is how we deal with the conflict that shapes who we are.
A little known way that affects how we deal with strife is the design of our homes. Our surroundings create a mood, can fill us with energy or even deplete our soul. The home is a reflection of our world and the Kardashians’ home is putting off quite the glare.
The first time I saw the show, the house fixated me. The plot was okay, but the home. Wow. Every home tells a story, and this one was speaking LOUDLY to me. Each one of us has different personalities, and unique energies. The things we fill our homes with reflect that.
As I was looking at the house, I saw Kris everywhere. I could see nothing for anyone else. I could not stop dissecting the main spaces that she shares with Bruce. Kris's style is dramatic, bold, high contrast colors, lots of black and white. These colors feed her and allow her to feel comfortable. She should have that around her, she needs that around her.
Bruce, however, does not; his personality appreciates casual colors, more earth tones and lighter feel. In one episode he was curled up on the only piece of furniture in their bedroom that he could resonate with. That was a cry for help. He wanted to belong. The decor of the home doesn't acknowledge Bruce's more relaxed style. In exasperation, he lamented, "I don't feel like I belong there". There was none of his energy in the home. Subsequently there have been shows where he's gone out of town and they didn't notice. He even moved out. The story of the breakup was there a long time ago, and it was prophesied through the furniture. Now most men allow their wives to take decorative control, especially when they are married to strong women. However, in a good marriage, a wife will think about her husband, even if he doesn't care. A home should share their energy.
Your home has a whisper. Keeping up with your home is more than just keeping it clean and neat. It's keeping up with your life, what changes are going on in your world, who do you want to be and what's important to you. Really look at your home and try "listening" to the story it's telling.
Didn't J nail it on the head? The lesson here: Make sure your home is filled with the things you love. Pay attention to each room and the vibe its giving off. Does it work with you? or is it time for a makeover? If you have questions, leave a comment I'm happy to answer!
