Happy Wednesday everyone! I am more than delighted today to be bringing you all the final installment of the One Room Challenge. For one, because it has been an ever so exciting journey into the wonderful world of design challenges but also because it has taken over the last 6 weeks of my life! (To catch up on the whole of it, go here.)
It's also just a joy because finally this room is ready for guests and summer is here and Dad is ready for visitors. The last week was about throwing everything together, you know putting the final touches on. In this case, the room needs to be "hotel like", it needs to be inviting for guests to stay long weekends and be comfortable. Grandma likes to stay for weeks at a time so it needs to also be blooming with interesting things. So, I added the spotted pillow to the bed because its such a vibrant pattern. It also looks perfect with the Greek Key bedding. Which by the way Jill Sorensen was kind enough to offer all of you ORC readers 20% discount on her bedding (enter DECORISTA20 at purchase). I love Jill and her style, its very much up my alley, so if you want some of this bedding, get it. It's really well made and its so hard to find fun & bold duvets that still are classic and not over the top. It just pops perfectly with the navy walls.
Now again, I am apologizing in advance for the poor photo quality, I'm still learning. I do like how vibrant that green topiary looks sitting in my blue & white planter. Which I went for blue & white for bedside accents. How much better do the small tables look painted white? I am obsessed. Navy and white is just such a killer combo. Grandma loves anything floral or botanical or anything to do with gardening so I put a few gardening mags and decor books down there for her pleasure.
Now the gray carpeting really needed something, so you can see how great the gray headboard worked. Pretty happy about that one. Oh, and the art. I still stare at it like its brand new every single time I see it. Such a great scene.
Now remember last week when I was deciding whether or not to add bold color into the mix? Well, I did...just on the other side of the bed.
I brought in the modern red chair for a pop of interest, and added a few red accessories to the mix. It's hard to tell in photos, but it just shuts the room down. All of a sudden its like modern glam. The top left of the dresser I put another corbel with a small red vase and it just is so sweet it makes everything else pop. I also forgot to mention, I added black and white gingham to the desk chair and to the pillow on the red seat. That chair was covered in old gross cream fabric. The gingham totally adds some granny glam to the room and it looks so sweet with everything else.
Just another detail of the Ikea dresser hack because honestly its just so good. Oh, and the best part. The room is ready just in time for Mother's Day so I get to give the reveal a surprise gift for grandma. Score! Hope you guys all enjoyed following this room as much as I did having you. Thank you for the constant love & support throughout the process. Honestly, you guys made it so much more fun for me than expected. You rule! XOXO til next time.
Oh...see my other peeps and their big reveals...I know I'm dying to...
