Hola everybody! Welcome to week 2 of #projectmoderngrannychic & the One Room Challenge. [New to this? Here's week 1] Happy to be back to the room and bring you all updates. Okay, so first thing is first. The navy turned out fabulously. It looks soooooo good. It's hard to tell in these photos, but trust me. It's looking pretty glam. We got the headboard in, its a gray nailhead trim queen sized headboard. I chose it because its a simple look which I like because if you ever move, it will go with anything.
Because the room is so small, I knew that I wanted to make sure to add a mirror above the bed. I was on the hunt for a convex mirror because I love the way they reflect a bigger version of the entire space. I was lucky enough to score one just like my inspiration board at Home Goods. It was about 50$ and perfect with a gorgeous black and gold finish to it. It looked just perfect above the bed. How cute does my little niece look helping me measure wall space? I just love her.
Anyway, so next to the bed, the first thing we needed was to get some lighting in there. I searched everywhere for simple gold sconces, but everything was either way over our budget or just not really that great a fit for the room. So, we headed over to Ikea and decided that this Arstid sconce would be perfect sprayed in a gold finish, and for $15 makes them a steal. I love the curved shape of them, makes for the perfect above bed reading light.
Here they are just after we hung them. I LOVE the way they turned out. [we still have to paint the long cords]
Here is a better shot of them after the cord painting...
Now on the opposite side of the bed, we placed the desk and we have the curtains already up. That was actually the first thing we did in the room. Drapes do so much for a space and Grandma loved the print on them and she saw them at Target, so we thought "whatever she wants, she gets". Do you all remember the lamp makeover that we did a while back after a Home Goods spree? Well, that's what's on the desk right now. These gorgeous vintage lamps and their chic teal shades. I love the wall/curtains/shades color combo.
Here is what they look like on the desk. It's hard to see the right lighting on camera. The curtains match the navy wall perfectly & the teal shades. It's difficult to see how perfectly the colors match but it looks so good in person. I love the rich gold in there too.
We are still on the hunt for the dresser, accessories, bedding, and side tables. We've got the recover the desk chair with some chic fabric, get some art on the walls, etc. In the meantime I found a few items while out thrifting...
That's it for week 2 y'all. Don't worry, there is so much more to come! And more too, check out my fellow challengers...
