WHITE DONE RIGHT

Whoever said white rooms are boring definitely don't know what they are missing. White rooms have swag too. You just have to know how to work with it. Believe me, I think white walls would drive me nuts but sometimes I find certain rooms that still my heart...

White walls + lots of natural light are such a killer combination. What i'm realizing is that you can't just throw any kind of decor in the mix. It's got to be authentic, real and distinct pieces that look purposed. In other words, don't go shopping from the catalog to accompany these white walls.
Cultured pieces like antique mirrors, curved seating, lots of unfinished woods, hints of leather and maybe even a little velvet work wonders. It helps to have only one or two modern pieces. Oh, and don't forget a very impressive chandelier that looks like you brought it back from over seas.

needing. wanting. loving. COLORED BATHROOM TILE

When I first moved into my apartment here in NYC I wanted to vomit at the yellow shower tile, but after some time I discovered that it was a perfect dash of color! Lately, normal grey and off white tiles are boring me.  I am loving me some bright and colorful shower tile. It can really do great things for your bathroom.

I love pink bathroom tile of course, but the greens really look beautiful too!

INTERESTING + EXOTIC CHAIRS

This summer, its the exotic things that call out my attention and chairs just happen to be one of my favorite parts of decor. Chairs in exposed or exotic woods, wicker, bone inlay, and even those with incredibly chic exotic fabrics are essential items for the home right now...

While my apartment is on the more hollywood glamour side, I think a nice and cozy chair like this would be such a cute addition to my space. I could throw on a little exotic pillow and call it a day.
Something like this cute wicker guy with a cozy shape and that open and airy feeling could be the perfect fit.
Even as I daydream about my future huge NYC apartment, I can totally see something like these gorgeous bone inlay chairs for my white dining room...perfection, no?

9. Saw this sign on a door and thought to myself, what a way to walk into your office. Strength. Such a good reminder of how I want to be in my life.
10. The incredibly talented Debby Hymowitz, my fave photographer in NYC. We had an incredible photoshoot this week. She is working on a photography book of particular people in new york and telling their stories. Beyond excited to see the finished product.

CALIFORNIA COOL...

The laid back style of California is everything I am into this summer. When I spotted this adorable couple's home on apartment therapy I knew I had to share it with you guys. The style in this home is just beyond words. Take a cue from this super cute spread  to build a stylish home...

I love the pop of green in this kitchen. It really makes this look work.
How charming is this office space? The navy and white works so beautifully together.
I am always a fan of a metallic ceiling, especially gold!
How cute are they???

The Art of Living: WINDOW WONDERS

Every once in a while you happen upon a space thats a little odd in design. Especially the modern buildings around downtown NYC. The shapes of the buildings aren't traditional at all, so when it comes to decorating, you have to get creative. Windows can always be an interesting spot. Sometimes you have that extra or irregular window and no idea what to do around it. So, I've been on the hunt for some intoxicating and innovative inspiration...

Office space of the day...JORDAN CARLYLE

delicious grey wallpaper + modern white desk + chevron chair fabric + risque photography =
domestic bliss
Jordan Carlyle is such a stylish NYC designer, lately I am just loving his work...

This modern + glamorous living room is perfect with brass accents and a patterned sofa...
Nothing says glamour like a high headboard, velvet pillows and a mirrored side table...
Romance abounds with hints of lavender, open windows and lots of mirrors to reflect and enlarge the natural light...
As we all know, I am a big believer that textures and layers are always a gorgeous way to go!

Style-icious Sunday...SYDNEY LIVING

Living in the city absolutely has its perks, but these days I am loving the feeling of open windows, life by the pool and fresh fragrances in the air. There is absolutely nothing like it.  It reminds me of my time in Sydney, Australia. It's probably one of my favorite cities in the world. The city life of New York and the beachy vibe like Miami. It's such a killer combo.
This Sydney home instantly caught my attention. Fashion designer Collette Dinnigan lives the sweet life in this cozy and chic space...

I love the openness of each room. It's almost as if you are living outdoors. Makes me miss my days in southern california too. So dreamy and delightful...

10 things that rocked my world this week...July 7

1. With the holiday in the middle of the week, I decided to stay out in the Hamptons all week long. Sometimes you just need to relax and recharge, you know? However, the decorista in me couldn't help but enjoy this gorgeous dining room wallpaper spotted at a dinner party.  Chinoiserie is so fitting.

2. This is how I spent most of my week and let me tell you, I couldn't have been happier.
3. I still got to keep up on my fitness and I spun my heart out at Soul Cycle. The coconut water was absolutely incredible after that insane workout.  #mynewaddiction
4. LOVE pillows. I am kind of obsessed with them. I love everything about the word love so why not express it in a majorly chic + decorative way?
5. July 4 is such a special holiday. I feel so blessed to live in America and I always get very emotional on this day. So thankful for the people who have fought and still do fight for us. Our freedom is definitely something I cherish. So, this day always rocks my world.
6. So, a trend I noticed in the hamptons is everyone has their zip code printed on cocktail napkins for the dinner parties. There was not a party that didn't have them in full force. I think its such an adorable idea. Gotta do this for my apartment...10023, hello!
7. In the summertime, blue becomes more and more of my favorite color. This chair in blue is complete perfection.
8. I don't collect much, but I do collect coffee mugs from the different places that I visit and I love love love the starbucks hamptons mug. Had to have one of these for sure.
9. The landscaping out here is just incredibly well kept. I love the greenery at the house. Perfection.
10. Wise words spoken to me by someone who knows.

Above the sofa Arrangements

Upon seeing this beautiful living room wall arrangement decorated by Ashley Whittaker, I realized that many of my clients are always asking for stylish ways to decorate above the sofa. I think we can all relate, right?  I find they get bored the with ever so popular oversized art piece, and mirrors are a little too expected. So, something I find to be fun are arrangements of mirrors, art and collected items that look chic together...

While mixing mirrors and artwork is fun, I also like the look of mixing.all artwork of different mediums and styles. It gives a very sophisticated feel, so very art collector chic.
On the other hand I really do love the look of an all mirrors grouping as well. So funky fresh and glamorous.

TEXTURES + LAYERS

This incredibly gorgeous room by Ruthie Sommers reminded me that layers and textures are what makes a room look cozy, lived in and so well decorated. Much like in fashion, any style looks so much more pulled together when layered correctly...

I think the key is to keep things organized looking so everything has its place. Different styles and finishes on furniture is such a great mixed look. I don't appreciate it when things are too matchy-matchy. I am such a believer in layering rugs, they are a perfect way to add texture, color and ultimately...serious style.
In this room by Suzanne Kasler, I love how she put the drape in the corner of the room off to the side of the window. Fabric over a corner just completely softens the look of the room.

SUMMERTIME STYLE...

I am spending most of my summer days by the beach, so it's only fitting that my little decorista heart is longing for some lovely beach photography. I think it looks fabulous year round but in summertime, it's oh so happenin'. I am especially loving DEBBIE HYMOWITZ beach photography, she's is my current favorite NYC photographess...

Now here are some of what inspire me, I just love the look of Massimo Vitali's work. I see it everywhere and its absolutely gorgeous.
However, I like to keep things new and fresh and Deb's work just makes me swoon. The color is just so powerful and really can inject some gorgeousness into a room...
GOTTA GET IT.

10 things that rocked my world this week...July 1

1. Wow. Time flies when you are having fun. It's been such an incredible summer and its going by so fast. This week was a hectic but incredibly good week. I've been blessed with such great people in my life, especially my family. Though they are all so far away from me, they continue to rock my world every single day. This week ended with an awesome photoshoot for a special project I will be telling you guys about soon. Exciting...eeek!

2. I seriously love the pretty art around the city. Especially when something like this is painted along a random building in the city. It's so colorful and vibrant and completely romantic, which totally made me smile. I snapped this while going for a run on the High Line...it stopped me in my tracks.
3. Hello pink and gold and antique. My favorite characteristics when it comes to decor.
4. Oh, Jonathan Adler. You completely rocked my clients world this week and mine too. How fun is the truck?
5. I am just in love with this cross bracelet I spotted on pinterest. There is no source for the photo so I have no idea where its from. If anyone knows...please send me the info. It's a perfect little summertime piece of arm candy, no?
6. This wallpaper is so so so good. I really never thought that ink blot wallpaper would work but in this quaint little restaurant in the village Kin shop, it worked marvelously. LOVE IT.
7. As I was walking along the street on my way to dinner I also thought this clever gold and black lighting fixture thingy was so cool in the window. Kinda magical looking.
8. Who doesn't love a good peacock on display during dinner? Well at Kingswood, I was quite impressed with the styling  of the pretty bird on the window. She glammed that restaurant right up.
9. So, I am back on with my affections for the essie nail color Canyon Coral. Seriously you guys...this is the best color for summer!
10. Everyone who is close to me knows that I do this hand sign all the time and I just fell so in love with this cute  album cover because I just adore this hand sign. LOVE is in the air!

ROOMS THAT ROCK MY WORLD...

One of my very best friends lives in London right now and I often look at apartments in London and fantasize about what it would be like to live in the UK. I'm such a nerd, I always check out the houses and flats on Zoopla (its really fun). So, of course Elle Decor UK is always on my radar and when I stopped by one of my favorite UK blogs and saw these photos of Jonathan Adler's home, my heart fell weak. White walls and pretty dashes of color...

Now I also loved the look of all white too. It's something I often daydream about however I am not sure I am that together to actually pull it off. If I did however, I would want to live in a space with huge windows that let a ton of natural light in. I'd add metallics to the brim, like brass fixtures on the furnishings and maybe a brass lamp or two.
The kitchen would definitely have to have elements of nature with wood floors and exposed ceilings. This would be so very british countryside, no? How cute do the glass jars filled with an assortment of baking essentials look...they add just the right amount of muted color. Again, that silver sink is pretty, but I would be a rebel and make mine beautiful brass! So pretty! Anyone want to come to the UK with me?
