MIXING IT UP...

Every once in a while, I come across an apartment that just blows me away. When clever couples have super chic mixing style I get very impressed. This adorable couple from Chicago has a very sweet space in the city and I just had to share it...

I love that a husband was cool with a floral carpet like this cabbage rose one and that gorgeous curved sofa with black piping absolutely rocked my world. White studded cocktail tables put together as a coffee table is so cute, too.
Black walls and cabinetry, a little aztec rug and milk glass in white and green are elements of an uber cute kitchen apartment. I also love this cute little vignette...

10 things that rocked my world this week. June 10

1. So far, the highlight of my week was at this beautiful place. The Surf Lodge in Montauk literally blew me away. The food was delicious and the view...incredible. Reminded me of where I grew up in Austin, Tx. I feel so at peace near the water, I needed this...

2. I finally learned the meaning of my name and it almost made me cry. I've been dreaming dreams and creating visions for myself from a very young age. Having dreams has kept me going after life and creating things. It's a blessing to continually be growing and learning. I love this.
3. I am one of those people that walks into places and freaks out about the decor elements. I walk all around, take it all in and take a picture or two. People must think I am crazy, but when I walked into Almond in the Hamptons, I almost died when I saw the fabulous Zebra Schumacher wallpaper. I've never seen it used in such a big space. It was absolute perfection!
4. My friend Reno alerted me to the fact that in his google search for FABULOUS, my photo came up. How cool is that???
5. The fine people over at Valspar paint have noticed my affections for pink walls. So, we are doing a little make-over at my apartment and they are going to paint my apartment PINK. I am so beyond excited I can hardly stand it. I think I am going with ART DECO PINK. I love the name.
6. One of my readers spotted me in a local Malaysian decor magazine. GLAM DEKO MAG. So very cool. Anyone know where I can get a copy???
7. I seriously want this chesterfield sofa. In a deep jewel toned color. LOVE this number from Mitchell Gold Bob Williams
8. I am so very into crochet everything right now, being that its summertime and all. How cute is this little guy I found outside my apartment. I didn't take him because, well, I don't know where it has been but I do just adore his little magic. So charming.
9. I love gold and I love bananas. Couldn't get a better combo than that. JA kills it every time.
10. Why I love summer: windows down, music up, a little dancing action. Ellie Goulding makes it easy. High for this was like the sound track of our drive out to the hamptons...sooooo goood!

High Point Market Highlight...

Everyone in New York gets so excited for fashion week, and I get it, but my heart seriously longs for High Point Market. the fashion week for interior designers. Is it October, yet?
Christian of Maison21 and I shared a sponsor this last season TVILUM and we had so much fun playing around with modern furnishings and such...
Because they appreciate my love for office spaces, they were excited to show me their new storage piece called MOVE that works according to your storage needs. SO VERY COOL.
That's me moving the shelves around.
They are affordable, customized to your way, completely sustainable + environmentally friendly and really attractive pieces. They are well made too.
How could we not love that?

LIBRARY IN MULBERRY

We all know my affections for pink. So how about this magenta colored library? It's absolutely fantastic! A jewel toned wall is the perfect look for a glamorous reading nook... so very modern day Aladdin. Designer Lindsay Coral Harper decorated this room for the Cathedral Antiques Show House in Atlanta. She did a wonderful job...

Her use of pattern is perfectly played. The ink blot rug against the striped curtains look great together. The Goyard like fabric on the chairs perfectly complements the small brass cocktail table and hot pink leopard stools make the artwork WORK.

AMSTERDAM in VOGUE

I almost fell to the floor when I found these photos of this gorgeous home in Amsterdam.
It belongs to a girl named Trudy, a former actress turned set designer turned actress. Only a true visionary would be bold enough for hot pink velvet chairs..

Hello glamorous chandelier next to blush peach pink walls and blue walls with gorgeous cream moldings. It's incredibly European and calls for ornate gold, curvy chairs with claw feet. Gorgeous antiques, luscious silk fabrics in blues, purples and pinks. Candleabras and the most beautiful art sit perfect atop this glam fireplace. I could go on and on about the drama.
My favorite part is the hiding magenta wing back chair in magenta silk fabric. Each little corner has a new surprise. I could just move right in. Couldn't you?

Tablescape Tuesday: summertime soiree with blue + white

Blue + white china is completely classic and will always work in any kind of situation. When in doubt of what to do for a summertime tablescape, this look will ALWAYS be effortlessly chic...

I have been collecting blue and white pieces forever, so keep your eyes out and when you spot something grab it. If you are into entertaining, or even if you aren't, I totally recommend keeping a collection in your home. You never know when it might come in handy. You can throw some flowers in the vase for an easy centerpiece in a flash. No matter what color you mix with, it's always in season

office space of the day...white wall wonderment

white walls + pretty chair + organized accessories + curated wall of original art =
domestic bliss
With everything happening in the city and my business growing, I have been considering the option of leasing a small office space. Most are short term leases and the unfortunate part is that no paint or wallpaper would be allowed, I'd be stuck with plain white walls. For a decorista like me, that's kinda sad.  However, the thing about white walls is that they really don't have to be so bad. One way to dress them up is covering them with an orderly arrangement of small framed art pieces. It really just adds the perfect touch of movement and color that the white really works.
but I would seriously miss me some color!

PARISIAN HÔTEL PARTICULIER : ROBERT COUTURIER

After the holiday weekend in the city, I am taking a day of catching up on all the work I didn't do while I enjoyed special time with special friends. I ended up having amazing conversations with a few friends who spend a lot of time over seas and it got me thinking..." I need to get over there, asap"
So, being the decorista that I am, I started to research hotels in Paris, London and Spain and I just can't stop daydreaming about visiting overseas...

This hotel designed by Robert Couturier absolutely took my breath away. The colors and patterns are just so rich and lovely. How incredible is this blue in the kitchen? I love the way the modern and sleek finishes was mixed with vintage dining pieces, so incredibly chic. And can we just talk about the hexagon tile on the floor...I mean.
If you know me at all, then you know my adoration for wall textiles and patterns...

When are we going?

Style-icious Sunday: weekend white

I am so enjoying this holiday weekend. The mood around this city is so soft and relaxing I can't help but feel the energy of vibrant white. In celebration of the welcoming of white, I am finding myself invigorated by the inspiration of breezy white clothes and delicate white interiors...

I just adore white with bits of gold...
HOPE YOU ALL ARE ENJOYING THE WEEKEND!

10 things that rocked my world this week. May 26

1. When I really feel the most fulfilled in life is when I am doing something for others. It brings out my inner radiance and lets me really shine. Earlier this week I went to a career fair for young kids in Harlem and talked to them about being an interior designer/blogger and entrepreneur. The kids were incredibly smart and very confident about what they want in life and many of them were impeccably  dressed. I loved it, these kids might have very well rocked my whole year!

 2. This amazing chaise lounge was at my local thrift store. How very Rococco. So glam!
 3. Such an interesting greek key pattern, no? In black and gold, too. Love.
 4. Got these babies for my client and they are so fabulous and perfect for her space. I really wanted them for myself. love love love.
 5. This book by the mom + daughter duo of good bones great pieces is SUCH a good read. Definitely a book I recommend for anyone that needs a little help decorating their home.
 6. I was in the country at our family's weekend home up east and my room had the most beautiful pink walls and pretty brass sconces.
 7. I also LOVE this greek key rug. Ordered something similar for a clients apartment recently. Love the graphic details. So pretty and fun.
 8. My favorite appetizer ever is guacamole. When made well, I go bananas. Especially because I think I make the best guacamole.
 9. These sweet guys are some of my favorite people, they continuously rock my world on a weekly basis and I wanted to give them proper credit. Monday we attended a black tie benefit for  An evening of Many  Hopes. Love em.
10. Just a little quote that warmed my heart this week. Sometimes words can make life more meaningful and exciting.

DINING WITH BLING

I recently purchased a set of vintage chrome dining chairs for a client. Six of the sparkly, metallic beauties make the dining room that much more glamorous. I cannot wait to see the way they make the dining room sing. They are vintage and need to be recovered but they are ready to be turned into show-stoppers! I scored these guys at a killer price too...

Aren't they glam? They sparkle and shine so well. We are going to recover them in a fabulous white croc leather or maybe even a rich and gorgeous kelly green velvet. We are working out the details but I am getting inspiration from these fab photos.
Maybe her husband would love a buttery tan leather...
I just love them all.
