Style-icious Sunday: the MANY shades of MINT

The color MINT is everywhere right now. We have all seen it on full blast this year, so I have a true appreciation for this particular hue of green. I have been dying to add some green to my apartment this spring, but have no idea where I am going to incorporate it...

What's wonderful about the color is that there are so many shades of minty fresh green in fashion + decor. I love to explore the different color combinations it can go with. I truly believe that all colors go together so lets see how many look amazing with mint.
To start off, mint + black are an extremely chic combo, and in the first photo mint + navy blue look so fresh together too.
Mint + orange + pink are a super stylish mix.
mint + cream with a pop of red.
But my most favorite look is a monochromatic mint color palate. It's invigorating + inviting all at the same time.

10 things that rocked my world this week. May 5

1. I started this week off with an afternoon at the Champagne Bar in The Plaza Hotel. The decor is just so glam. Still to this day I just get giddy over the fact that I live in this incredible city and the fun + exciting things to do are just never ending...

2. New clients are always fun and so are round sofas. In fact, round sofas might be my new obsession.
3. April showers bring May flowers. This could not be more exciting. I love the color and joy that flowers bring to the world.
4. Yellow and black. Uber chic combo. I was not always a fan but I was at the NYDC for the Trad Home launch party and this little vignette totally made me think twice.
5. Client chandelier installed. This Zgallerie Calias chandelier was the perfect contrast for deep grey walls. It just looks so good in person I can not get over it. So excited to show you guys!
6. The fabulous ladies at Furbish named a necklace after me. I feel completely honored! Love!
7. Another great shot of these AMAZING chairs from the plaza. Warm green velvet and brass studs with wings, it's chair perfection!
8. Gotta love words from JFK. These in particular re-inspired my week.
9. By now I am sure most of you know my love for chandeliers. I am especially fond of colored ones, and turquoise paired with gold is such a beautiful mix. Don't we all agree?
10. Saw this image and got completely inspired to create something fabulous so stay tuned for that!
BONUS: Something else BIG is in the works and it has something to do with these two...Recognize the talented Crystal + Nicole? We had some really good brainstorming sessions at the Trad Home Magazine launch party. I also enjoyed my time with these two beauties...
Naomi + Jen. Industry events are so much fun.

STYLISH IN SEATTLE {rue magazine may/june}

I am so beyond excited about the new issue of Rue...its really good! I am especially fond of the home features this issue, my girl Cassandra (of Coco + Kelley) finally unveiled her decorating + styling skills. Her Seattle apartment is oh so cute and totally her. I just love seeing where people live and how they decorate, it really lets you in on a person's true personality. I think thats why I have such a love for decorating and design...

Cass is so good at styling and putting vignettes together! I love the way the photographer really captured her aesthetic.

Don't we all have a love for this Zgallerie chandelier? Hello aqua!

Grey + Gold with Tamara Kaye-Honey

Tonight I am so excited for the Trad Home magazine launch party here in NYC. I can't wait to hang out and mingle with all of the designers + bloggers. One of my favorites is Tamara Kaye-Honey of House of Honey. I had the pleasure of knowing her in my days in LA and her shop + design studio was always so inspiring to me! I love her use of color, its very similar to my preferences.
Case-in-point, grey + gold mixed together for some very glamorous spaces...
This look of grey + tangerine tango (pantone's color of the year) is also very stylin'.
As many of you know, I also love me some PINK + GOLD too and this pink room with hints of gold from the Good Shepherd Charity Project is a personal favorite too.

I also find her use of portrait paintings really stylish and very california chic...
Such glamour with serious style + whimsy.

Wallcolor Wednesday: COLORED CEILINGS

After working with so many clients you truly realize how afraid they are of color. It's like they really dream of having a bold color on their walls but are afraid to make the commitment. I totally get it, I mean my apartment walls are greige, hello! However, now that spring is here I am ready to throw in some serious color. And it really got me thinking, why don't we try painting the ceiling a bold color.   It's such a clever way to add a hue to your space without being overwhelming....

Marigold in all white is perfect for a master bedroom and baby pink in the bathroom is genius. Especially because pink is always a flattering color.
(a little tip for the ladies, we all look prettier in pink)
I really also love to color blocking going on here with a tan + minty green. So fresh.

Welcome May Sponsor...Decorator Archives

If you are like me then you loooooove Chinoiserie. I especially love the look of it in wallpaper, it really is one of my favorites. However, most of my clients are afraid to go all the way but they do love the look of a panel or two in a room. So, I am so excited about this new resource, DecoratorArchives. It literally has become my new favorite place to get this style at more affordable prices...
The selection is ridiculously good, there are all sorts of looks to choose from. So, if you are looking for a dash of sophistication, frame one of these prints for some serious style.
I especially like the animal collections like flamingos and cheetahs...

Designer Crush: Isabel Lopez-Quesada

When I was younger I wasn't really in touch with my Spanish heritage (i'm spanish, hungarian and mexican). I have lived such an American life but as I got older, I became so passionate about my background and loved to study Spanish architecture and design. So in the April issue of Architectural Digest, I was so excited about seeing Spanish designer Isabel López-Quesada's home in Madrid...

I think its so beautiful! The rich vibrant pop of magenta really struck a chord with me. It sits so perfectly among the soft and neutral color palate of the home. The aqua hued glass and chrome walls in the bathroom really blew me away. Especially because the start modern elements are paired with rustic French pieces. I love the art of a good design mixture.
Oh, how this backyard has me longing to jet off to Spain and live there for the rest of my life.

Highlights of High Point Market...

So, thanks to 220Elm, I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to HPMKT (interior designers' fashion week) this last week. This year was probably the best market yet, I have never been around so much color and design deliciousness in my life.
I want to share with you a few places that really rocked my world...

The Bernhardt showroom blew me away, they are rocking a whole new fresh look this year and it was right up my alley. Arteriors is always my go-to for fabulous accessories and lighting and this year they blew me away with GOLD goodness!

OLY is always a favorite of mine with ethereal, light, lovely pieces. I could spend all day in that showroom. C.R. Laine also was at the top of my list this year. The sofas and pieces that were going on in there were just oozing color and style. I came home with some goodies from that showroom.
Hickory Chair is hands down one of the best showrooms to tour, their displays are always on point and the designers are always there to give you the true inspiration story behind the pieces. Such an amazing design experience to enjoy. I have too many photos to post so I suggest browsing the site.

I was on the hunt for some artwork for clients this year and Natural Curiosities had everything I was looking for and more. Gold artwork always wins in my book. You can never go wrong in hopping over to Made Goods, they are spot on with every accessory in the store. I could fill a home in 5 seconds with the gems from that place. Especially the mirrors and I love me some good mirrors!
Worlds Away...always a favorite of mine and this year things were bigger and better.
What would market be without the other amazing bloggers and designers there to get some good time with? Definitely not as good as it is. I love getting to meet the people in my industry, spend some really good time with  my best blog friends and meet new of the industries finest!
I suggest checking out my industry besties on twitter for more gab on Market!

COLOR LOVER: onyx, white + kelly

I don't know what is in the decorating water lately but everywhere I love I am seeing onyx black, bright white and kelly green. It's a fabulous mixture I must admit and its taking me back to some of my most favorite interiors moments. For spring, I have been wanting to add a dash of color to my apartment and I'm thinking maybe some fabulous kelly green drapes...or maybe just an emerald lamp. Oh, the possibilities are endless...

Have always loved these incredible lucite + green dining room chairs.

10 things that rocked my world this week...high point market edition

1. I absolutely LOVE attending High Point Market and this year Cassandra (of coco + kelley) and I decided to make and entire trip out of it. Banking on the fact that we have a very similar design eye and love for really pretty things, we braved the streets of North Carolina and had probably the most fun week ever.

 2. To my super incredible surprise, I ended up getting on the same connecting flight as my former bosses, most talented mentors, my family, Ron and Jaime of Woodson + Rummerfield. I got to catch up with them and spend some good quality time. I loved hearing about all of the exciting new things that they have in store, so keep your eyes on their blog for updates!
 3. My sponsors 220 Elm welcomed us with open arms and on my first tour of the trip I got to see this incredible art installation...kept me very inspired for black and white happenings...
 4. Blogger initiatives. #elevate was put together by @decormentor to give designers and the people in our field a chance to give expertise and get expertise in all aspects of our business. Here, Christian (of Maison21) and I are putting our business cards up...we want advice!
 5. Hello. I loved seeing my black and white striped wallpaper all over the place.
 6. If my suitcase was big enough, I would have walked out with this gold hearts art from Natural Curiosities...
 7. Next stop. Furbish Studio. Probably my new favorite happy place. Too bad its so far away from me. I would live here if I could. Jaime is like my pink soul sister. Love her and everything she creates. She has big things going on too, so keep an eye out for her!
8. I love flamingos...like a lot. They are skinny and pink and such love birds. They also remind me of home. When I spotted these salt and pepper shakers I went gaga over them, but due to lack of room in my suitcase, I couldn't get them. Still thinking of them.
 9. Pattern + Pink. Need I say more?
 10. To end my week with a bang, I went to the Housing Works Design on a Dime benefit. It blew my mind how creative and chic the designs were. So much style packed in this week, I could barely keep up!
Have I mentioned how much I LOVE what I do? Feeling blessed.

Office space of the day...GREENERY

Spotted this adorable office space on one of my favorite blogs, Sanity Fair.
Kelly Green walls + bamboo furniture + gold frames + bits of white and black + coral drawer pulls =
domestic bliss
Skyla's apartment is absolutely adorable and I am noticing that green walls with accents of black and white is a killer combo and oh so hot right now. Genevive Gorder used in in her room at DOAD and I saw it everywhere at HPMKT (more on that coming soon)...

This is a perfect use of a small space. You don't have to have a dining room to get a place to have great dining, and the same goes for the office. I love the way she broke down her space here.
Hope this inspires you for some great weekend decorating.

Housing Works Thrift Design On A Dime Benefit

Many of you hear me talking about Housing Works Thrift because its one of my favorite places to find one of a kind vintage pieces in this city. Aside from the mega-style packed stores throughout the city, this hot NYC thrift chain is big on giving back, hence Design on a Dime initiative. Where designers scour the towns stores, get creative and design gorgeous vignettes so the city's most stylish people can shop for a cause! This years designer list was so fabulous and I was blown away by what they came up with....
Of course my first stop was to see my friend Genevive Gorder and her space. I absolutely love her and her sense of style. She kept things super on trend with kelly green + pops of black and white. She teamed up with Valspar paint to create a space with serious swagger. I wanted to buy everything in her shop!

HOME SWEET HOME: metal seating

I am finally back from the extravaganza that is High Point Market. It was by far the best market I have ever been to. Pardon me for the lack of posts but I was so overwhelmed by all of the wonderful things out there to see. I am planning some great posts with highlights and trends but for now I'll share with you my favorite look...pretty metal seating.

I think springtime is a great time to experiment with metals, its a softer and lighter look. Especially in the dining room, I absolutely adore it.
I love all of these in light colors and in white but a sleek and glossy black could be so glam!

10 things that rocked my world this week...April 21

1. The other day I was visiting one of my sweetest friends and her pillows were so stylish. Metallics mixed with moroccan style prints and fabrics...super swag.

 2. Now that its time for Spring Market (High Point Market is like fashion week for the interior designer world, just FYI). I'm so excited and have been planning my wardrobe, so I have been stocking up on dresses and this artsy pattern with bold hues just stole my heart. I had to have it.
 3. Another pretty bedroom pillow collection of someone I adore and this aqua hued LOVE pillow is just a must have on my list!
 4. Sarahbeth's...there is one in almost every area of the city and the breakfast is out of control delish!  Grapefruit juice and coffee are my summertime staples!
 5. I LOVE spring in New York, the events are almost every single day and I have been enjoying all of the new art on the scene. So fun to attend and I loved wearing my plaid blazer...
 6. The special edition of domino magazine. It's packed with good pictures, big and glossy. I will just never tire of home style magazines.
 7. So, this week I have started a new project and paint selection is probably one of my most favorite parts. I love my job!
8. In the spring, the coolest things just come out of the woodworks and get sold on the streets of new york city. I had to snag a few of these exotic baskets. So pretty and fun.
9. I want this little settee. Like right now. The green color is so exciting!
10. In the winter I walk around my apartment in uggs. Now that its spring I have been rocking this mexican style house shoes. Call me crazy but there is nothing like looking at bright pink patterns on he my tooties and pretty pink polish. Oh, the joys of being a girl.

Decorating a console table...

Recently, a lot of you have been sending me emails asking how to decorate your console table in the entryway. So, I have decided to show you some examples and give you an idea of what to use and how to make it work...

First and foremost, your entryway console will be an opening statement. So feel free to accessorize with your favorite collections. When doing so, I like to gather things in odd numbers and make sure there is some symmetry too...
Stacks of books are always a stylish decorative statement. Try keeping the spines in the same color family to keep it looking put together...
Work with height. You can use either one lamp or two, but if using one make sure to use other objects with height to offset the height...
Obelisks are a fab item to use in the home. They have height, style and sophistication. So, if you are looking for ideas, make your console pop with a pair of them...
