art + room: Damien Hirst Dots

This afternoon I am making my travel arrangements for High Point Market. Oh yes, its like fashion week for the interior design world here in the US and I am obsessed with it. I have days filled with showroom tours and my main goal is to see the artwork displayed with the interiors. My client's apartment has dark gray walls that are calling out for some color so badly!
What I am loving right now.... Damien Hirst dots artwork...oh yes. It's rocking my world and I kind of want one for the space, like RIGHT now....

Would look smashing in an all gray modern space, no?

needing. wanting. loving. GOLD LIGHTING

As I am putting the finishing touches on a current project bathroom, I have become obsessed with lighting for the kitchen and bath. I am seriously shopping around like a mad woman for the perfect thing and I honestly am hopelessly in love with GOLD lighting. It's just so beautiful and glamorous and gives such special love to whatever room it sits in...

I absolutely love these vintage brass flower pendants. So pretty!

i
I just love this Arteriors lamp, its definitely one of my favorites...

Secret of domestic bliss #64... home office secretaries

In New York we all know that space is super limited. Especially if you have a home office, you really have to get clever when it comes to space. Lately, I am loving secretary desks. My sweet little studio has room for a desk and I love it but I could really use the vertical space for storage and secretary desks provide so much storage. I am realizing what clever little things they are...

I love the modern look of this white secretary desk, and the ample space to style on top.

10 Things that rocked my world this week...March 25

1. My week in Florida was so nice and relaxing. Full of pink, sunshine and the most beautiful sunsets. My final piece of artwork for my client was so so pretty, I fell in love with it. See a behind the scenes peek at my creating process here...

2. This is mid way through the process of decorating. We have most of the furniture down and set and we just need to get the walls done and then styling accessories will commence.
 3. The brass in this place is just beyond fun and the more I look at this lamp, the more in love with it I am.
 4. A very very good summery treat....strawberries are so pretty
5. Being able to run over to the nearest Target was so much fun. I was there for hours it seemed and I swiped up some super fun and color office supplies for myself.
 6. Brass unicorn bookends, an accessorizing gem!
 7. The color of March...green and this glass collection was just breathtaking. I wish I could have bought it all.
 8. My new lucite printer stand for my office. I got several lucite items and I am so in LOVE!
9. Where I had dinner almost every evening. It was a pretty magical week.
 10. After an amazing week I came back to the city with this piece of wisdom. So good!

NEEDING. WANTING. LOVING. BRASS BOOKSHELVES

Inspired by this beautiful photo I knew that a brass bookcase would make the perfect addition to my clients home office. We searched high and low and found this interesting looking one...

Isn't she beautiful. Very unique and oh so perfect for displaying gorgeous items.
It's not styled to perfection yet, but at least we have begun the magic.
Today, I am relishing in the fact that we actually found one for around $100 and it looks so old school glam. Now I am considering getting one for myself!

art + room: OMBRE ART

My client has commissioned me to do a piece of artwork in her home and I couldn't be more excited.    (I adore painting) So, I am in pursuit of amazing pieces of work to inspire my work...this room by Tilton Fenwick just might have done the trick for me. I love this purpleish/pink ombre art piece. Very glamorous with a little bit of edge...
national geographic collection + deep teal lamps + tortishell harmony + studded walls + ombre art =
domestic bliss

I really love this aqua ombre look.
Then this awesome DIY ombre art tutorial really spoke to me and its pink!
Now if I really wanted to get cool in an apartment I might try something like this orange wall...
I'm into it......

LIVING IN LONDON...ELLE DECOR APRIL

Although the sunny skies are incredibly amazing, I do sometimes dream of what it would be like to live in London. Thank God for amazing shelter publications that take us inside the most incredible homes of other countries. This cover of the new Elle Decor seriously stopped me in my tracks.
Deep navy velvet sofa, gray grasscloth walls, that gorgeous ornate gold mirror, and that rug! This London flat is just beyond....

I seriously cannot get over the brass and glass used in the space. (very similar to the pieces I'm currently placing in my new clients' home, so art deco glam) I also love the designer and his choice of artwork. Very sexy.
I am such a fan of this black and white marble mixed with the burled wood looking finish and those sconces are so gaudy glam. I just think this work is brilliant.
Check out the marvelous gold feet on the dining table. Pretty pops of yellow and brass complete the look and take the traditional decor to a whole 'nother level....

A FORT LAUDERDALE DECORATING STORY...

My weekend in Fort Lauderdale was super successful. I spent so much time in the vintage & antique stores around here scoring things for my clients pad. Like I told you all before, she is a young + stylish fashion designer and her style I will call, VINTAGE PALM BEACH CHIC...
Her 2 bedroom condo is so bright, think white walls and lots + lots of sunlight. She loves brass and her motto for her home is the more gold, the better. Could it get much better???
(Anyone in the S. Florida area need an interior decorator...CALL ME...I LOVE it here.)
I have scored like a winner in Vegas when it comes to her furnishings so I will share with you a few things we found on the first day....
The fabulous peacock chair was the perfect piece for her home office guest seating and it was under $40...HELLO!
I could not get over how beautiful driving around this city was. It's been so long since I have actually been in a car to get around, I kinda missed the feeling.
Her bathroom has a little nook for a cute vanity so this Art Deco mirror was $90 and perfect to fit for her to primp with and she loves the glam-ness...This faux bamboo rattan shelving is storage for her bedroom, where she can display her jewels and shoes and the like.
We are outfitting her digs with tons of vintage brass accessories and we found a whole lot for under $20 each. Hello horses and unicorns (her favorite animals)... How amazing is this gorgeous armoire we scored for her guest bedroom. The amount of storage is insane and the faux bamboo is so her style...and it was under $200
Now, this next week she is having family come in so we had to fill her home with dishes to outfit her dining table so she can host a party and we stocked up on gold! We got these gorgeous gold rimmed wine glasses at an antique store for $2 each and beautiful white dishes with a gold trim for 1.50$ each and a set of gold flatware for 8.... $69. Everything in perfect shape too!
This place has such amazing stuff...Here are some interesting pieces that I thought were unique and fun and I so wanted to take home but....well...I can't shop for me.

and I seriously fell for this New York City skyline screen. It was so cool.

Style-icious Sunday: Palm Beach Swagger

Shopping down here in Florida is so fabulous! Everything at the stores is full of color and old chinoiserie flair and I am scooping up everything I can get my hands on. The amount of lucite items I have scored is just beyond. total decorista bliss
So, today as I relax and sip lemonade by the pool in my neon bikini, straw hat and sunnies, I relish in the cheery palm beach vibe thats going on in the decor around these places. Majorly FUN!
Think bright citrus colors, busy, patterned wallpaper, the coolest collections, wicker and rattan furniture, lots of green, tons of vintage items and just a kiss of chinoiserie.

10 things that rocked my world this week...March 17

1. I started the week off with a trip to one of my favorite cities ever, San Francisco.  Joyus brought of few of us design bloggers out to their studios for a design competition sponsored by H.D.Buttercuphttp SF. Not only was it an absolute blast, the staff and crew at Joyus were incredible people. I can't wait for you all to see the final projects...

2. The studios had a HUGE assortment of furniture and pieces to decorate with. This photo was my rooms inspiration. I loved this photograph, it made me think of my mom and I (we both just adore wearing leopard). I instantly got that special heartfelt touch for this photo and I knew right then it was my piece.
3. The prop table. It was full of so many goodies, I didn't know which ones to choose from. Now that is some decorista fun!
 4. Meanwhile, my beautiful client sent me a photo of her new mirror I found at our local NYC antique shop. It's authentic rococo and it just ROCKED MY WORLD. Looks fabulous on the peacock blue walls too!
 5. Back to SFO...slumber party with two of my most favorite bloggers Crystal + Kelley
Too much fun!
 6. I just hate to leave the city...but it was raining and I had to jet off to Fort Lauderdale where my new client is waiting in the wings...
7. Hello Fort Lauderdale. I am really digging your palm trees...
8. Progress on decorating....we have brass. lucite. french antiques. flamingos. lots of colors etc. EXCITING STUFF!
9. Oh, and these brass unicorns are adorable, no? The vintage and antique stores down here are absolutely incredible. I am just loving me some Florida. (and I'm getting a tan too. yay!)
 10. Last but not least, I didn't want to forget to mention the amazing brunch with Bravo TV this last weekend. They decked out cabs in the most fabulous furnishings and treated a group of us to an amazing brunch. I so enjoyed my time with Jen + Nicole.
(read more about the amazing journey on Jen's blog.) She took some fab pics, like this one...

NEW CONTRIBUTOR: Sheena & the city {C.Wonder FUL}

Since I moved to New York 6 months ago, I am inspired daily by commercial interiors. It doesn’t matter whether you are a traditionalist, addicted to sparkle, crazy for geometrics, nuts about deco, or a minimalist who prefers block colors - there is
something for everyone in New York City.
Have you ever walked into a hotel, restaurant, spa or store whose interiors are so gorgeous that you wanted to buy everything, including the light fixtures?  I know I have...
While everything you want to scoop up may not be for sale, you can
find a lot of what you see if you really hunt for it, and I am here to do just that for you!
From latticework chairs, to neon lacquered walls and gold animal ornaments used as jewelry display, the recently opened C Wonder store in Soho is a treasure trove for all things bright and bold, highly patterned and beautifully textured.
It's a must visit when you come to the city.
Despite all the variety, you can get this high gloss, high glam look for your own home. Just follow my lead…
XOXO
SHEENA

Decorating 101: Big mirror + fab console

After my amazing trip in San Francisco at the beginning of this week, I have up and headed down to Fort Lauderdale for a brand spanking new client and I am beyond excited about it! Her home is like a big coloring book for me...white walls + fabulously shaped furniture basics. She is a Brazilian/American fashion designer and her life is all about color. I adore her!
My first mission is to get some great vignettes going on in here and that all starts with a big mirror + a fabulous console table...
I love the way this floor mirror is covered with a pretty console. This look is genius to me. It creates mega space in the room but the mirror alone would be bland. The console table adds some dimension and is the perfect space to display a few of your favorite things.

As much as I adore gold, which is what we are using in Vanessa's crib, I will always adore all mirrored pieces. It's just so very elegant and glamorous!

pinteresteclectic revisited.

Secret of domestic bliss #62...OVERSIZED ART

I have to admit that things in my world have been a bit hectic. I am in San Francisco right now working on a few exciting things that I will fill you all in on very soon. For today, I want to share with you my current love for oversized things, like really good art! I am currently selecting a few pieces for some clients back on the east coast and San Fran is full of amazing works of art. I love this city and its incredible artsy culture. Big works of art are perfect for the home....
They look amazing over a sofa or beautiful console. Pretty much anywhere in the home will do.
I certainly love this set of 3 in the entryway...absolute perfection.
