Passion for Pinterest & Hermes Orange Boxes

So I have been working with one of my clients on a makeover in the bedroom. The clients just feel like they want something new for spring. Things need a change but we don't really want to go out and buy all new pieces for the room so I was putting together a mood board for some ideas when it occurred to me just how FABULOUS pinterest is.
It is such a powerful decorating tool. I had an idea for getting some orange into the room. I was thinking maybe through boxes and my pinterest totally helped support my case to the client.
Let me prove to you how orange boxes are awesome...

DIY weekend decorating idea...

The second I spotted this lavender wall, I was smitten and so in love. How relaxing would a lavender office space be? I have always had an affinity for metallic duct tape (like this one) and thought this little DIY project would be perfect for my readers! I love anything with molding, whether it be faux molding or not. Would you guys be interested in doing something like this? So cute, no?

Seriously in LOVE with Gabriel...

I literally have not seen design richness like this in a while. I have been awaiting someone new to be inspired by and this Gabriel Hendifar fellow is just knocking my socks off...
Hello black luscious bedroom...my gosh I dream of living in something like you.
The aqua and turquoise flamestich-ish fabric on those chairs just moves me.
How about these incredibly acrylic and leather seats below. Hello!
They work wonderfully next to the studded black, leather yellow and curvy legs on that killer tortiseshell table.
These acrylic stools are sexy too!

Wallcolor Wednesday: A pretty little green room...

After a day of being out in the streets walking around I am just overjoyed that spring weather is finally arriving to the city. It has me dreaming of the most bright and vibrant colors on the walls. Especially the color GREEN...

The perfect touch of pretty femininity...
A touch of modern chic...
A touch of history...
A touch of traditional...
And a baby touch of masculine...

A letter to EVERY GIRL...

If you didn't get a chance to visit the new site THE EVERY GIRL, you must do it now! Recently, two of my sweet blogging friends Alaina and Danielle joined forces to bring a brand new site where us girls can go to be encouraged and inspired! It's incredible.
It was an honor for myself and my little new york studio apartment to be featured this last week on the site. It was quite a humbling experience to read my own interview and take a look at my life from an onlookers perspective....

While I have been interviewed and featured before, for some reason this experience brought me to tears. I realized how incredibly blessed I am to be part of the blogging world. From the day I started my blog to now has been such a magical ride. I can remember reading books and magazine articles about creative women and how they left their 9-5 to start a creative business and are living the life of their dreams. (Of course, in my head I thought, "if only I had her talent or if only I had her resources, etc..this could go on and on.." but I had to quiet that noise QUICKLY!)
I can remember wanting so bad to be like these women and I truly never, ever even imagined that it could actually ever be me. I can remember working my 9-5 and reading blogs like MadeByGirl and Coco+Kelley and thinking to myself, "wow, now these women inspire me!
So, I started my blog and put my entire heart and soul into the thing. I spent all my time teaching myself computer things and taking seminars and asking questions, etc. I had to figure it all out on my own (which is why I wrote my e-book) My blog nurtured my creativity in the best way. Before I knew it, I found out how many girls there were out there that were just like me and we shared so many creative similarities and not only that, they were such lovely people.
My friends and family so did not understand and would constantly question me and this silly hobby of mine. My obsession with design and passion for creativity just allowed me to get lost in it all and keep going full steam ahead. I had no idea where I was going, but I knew in my soul I was fulfilling myself with promise and potential and that was all I really needed.
As I continued to take risks and put myself out there,  I realized that I didn't need family backing or support from friends because I had a huge network and support system right behind me, the amazing design blogging community. (I mean, where on earth does this happen?)
Soon enough, I had the opportunity to come to New York and start my own interior design business. Becoming an entrepreneuress and pursing the career of my dreams has been such a wild ride and probably the hardest thing to do in a big, brand new city. So scary, but I DID IT and I have survived it and I am still going strong.

What I realized in hind sight, is that living the life of your dreams is absolutely attainable. If you really want it, you can have it. I am absolutely sure of that and I am living proof.
DREAM. BELIEVE. ACHIEVE.
I really want to thank all of the wonderful people who emailed me with their stories and shared with me how I have inspired them and IT IS TRULY AN HONOR to be that for you. It brings me to tears. Literally.
I also want to thank my readers who share a passion and love for interiors and style and hang out with me on a daily basis. You guys are incredibly awesome and the best part of my life and I love you so much.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

GET THE LOOK with effortless style

Hi Decorista readers! It's Camila from Effortless Style back to share with you another room that you can recreate in your own home on a budget.
This desk set up from Domino has always been a favorite of mine:
When making a desk area in a room that is multi-tasking as a bedroom or living room it is key to be concise with your design decisions and go with a less is more attitude. Using lucite items that simply disappear and mirrors to reflect light are great examples of how to do this.
If you want to try and recreate the space above here are some items you can pick up:
1. A little greener goes a long way. I always leave a touch of nature in a space. While many would not have room for a full grown plant we all have a little desk space for a small topiary.
2. It's always important to do a variety of lighting in a space. Don't solely rely on your overhead lighting. This desk lamp provides another source of light and it's sleek space will keep things clean.
3. Mirrors open up a space and help bounce light around the room. I love that instead of just mirror the designer went with a pair. This mirror would work nicely to recreate the look.
4. Keep all of your office supplies out of sight in stylish boxes.
5. Our touch of lucite in a desk chair simply blends into the space.
6. A tomato red Moroccan pouf provides a foot rest for you and a pop of color that helps tie the room together.
7. I believe that the main item that makes this room is the amazing dark blue grasscloth wallpaper. Grasscloth can be pricey and applying it can run you even more money, but the impact is amazing. I was lucky enough to find a budget friendly grasscloth and if you apply it yourself you'll save yourself more money.

10 things that rocked my world this week...March 3

1. I have a new love for Ladies Home Journal Magazine. They are changing things up in house and aiming to be a magazine that inspires women to have great lives. Not just with fashion, beauty and the like but they want to inspire women to feel empowered to share their stories, encourage each other and chase after their dreams. Such a fabulous idea! (me above with Beth the Home features editor...read more about my trip to LHJ here)

2. Since we are talking about female empowerment. I must add that I REALLY LOVED my feature on The Every Girl this week. First of all, I love the site, it's a great resource for pretty much any girl. The girls (Alaina + Danielle) are such fabulous girls and they did such a great write up on me and I really feel they got me,  and I love being an inspiration for anyone who wants to follow their true passion.
3. One of my passions is reading. Especially about another passion which is homemaking. This book is a MUST READ
 4. Lavender metallic wallpaper. I am obsessed with it in this sweet bedroom.
 5. On my way to the gym one morning, I spotted these neon green planters. How chic, no?
(and so on trend)
 6. Spring in New York means LOTS and LOTS of fun events to attend and I finally have a partner in crime to hit up all of these amazing places with. We all know and LOVE Jen @MadeByGirl. She is such an inspiration to me and probably the most fun and sweet girl too. I am so happy she is in NYC!

 7. I always love to see the store windows and how they are designed around this city. LOVED these chevron columns for shoe displays at Bebe. So clever and cute.
 8. Mixing metallics...gold + rose gold. The mix is so fabulous I can't help but wear it everywhere.

 9. This gorgeous wall sconce just had me at hello. So French, So glam, So chic. I want one!
10. Some seriously motivating words. I absolutely love this stuff!

wide open loft spaces

Decorating other people's apartments in this city is incredibly fun, but it really makes me want to move to a new space and redecorate everything. Does anybody else ever feel that way? I am just ready to move and take on a whole new project. My lease is up in July but I am already craving some apartment shopping.
Right now, I am thinking how fun it would be to live in a large and wide open loft space...

Can you just imagine the sunlight?
I would have to get used to white walls I presume, I can't imagine the painting that would be necessary for this size of space, and I do love me some white rooms.
The large windows just scream city loft, how incredibly dreamy is that concept?
It's like what you see in movies. Gotta love that.

office space of the day: white done right

Gorgeous white office spaces are the reason I love what I do. In reality, I could never actually work in a space this color free, but creating this magic would be a brilliant feat. It's incredibly well styled and fits my love for white done right just perfectly...

art + room: ABSTRACT is the ANSWER

Designer Michael Smith kills it every time. I am in love with this mix of abstract art, art nouveaux, gold and traditional. Artwork just adds that special touch of edgy-ness that really makes it real and not too stuffy. I am always so inspired when designers can achieve that approachability factor... Incredible mix, don't you think?

why I love abstract art.....

I really love this mix of colors, it makes a perfect abstract vintage art look...

Style-icious Sunday... lately loving grey on grey

The thing about color is that it really is powerful, it can be exciting and illicit certain emotions almost instantly. However, grey...it's a perfect blend of feminine and masculine. It almost gives you that feeling of peace, relaxation, something so smooth. Lately I am just really LOVING it...

I love grey on grey so much but what I adore most about grey....it looks amazing with a teeny pop of neon green...

10 things that rocked my world this week...February 25

1. New York has been absolutely amazing lately. The weather has been magical, just completely encouraging for getting out and wandering the streets and it has given me energy to be extremely more productive at work. I love the sunshine... So lovely!

2. My wallpaper line is almost done. There is so much work going on behind the scenes...it's insane.
However, because so many of you have been asking where to get the wallpaper, I am officially selling the first one in my ETSY SHOP. Self-adhesive, peel and stick wallpaper. It's black and white striped perfection...nothing excites me more. I just can't wait for the real shop and rest of the designs to be up!

 3. Neutrals + Neon. We all love it and Ann taylor made some sweet flats to let us relish in the beauty. I am obsessed with these. So darn fabulous! And all I need is THIS BAG to match!
 4. Floral wallpaper just rocks my world right now...I'm very inspired.
 5.  I adore these girls. They are my team of foodies (we have one missing, she was making things happen). I've never appreciated the fabulous dining in this city until I started being forced to...so thankful for them.
 6. I finally got a legit blogger camera. I'm sure I am the last one to the party but honestly, my point and shoot just doesn't cut it anymore. You know??? I am obsessed with this one (Canon Rebel T3), its the PERFECT starter camera and I am having a blast with it!
7.  My amazing, amazing dad bought me this Michael Kors gold watch. It's bangin' and so blingy and I just love everything about it.
 8. I went shopping for metallic gold paint again. Super exciting project in the works...stay tuned.
9. Now who wouldn't love a mirror like this somewhere in their home? I spotted this in Living Etc magazine and I just fell for it. So sweet.
10. I absolutely LOVE this book. New York Interiors by TASCHEN. Looking at apartments in this city is completely exciting. I could do it all day long.

needing. wanting. loving. NEON GREEN on the WALL

Oh how my sweet fellow NYC blogger, Jenny, inspires me...almost daily. She zhushed up her home decor with a little neon green, so hot right now! Here are a few ways I am inspired to add a dash of neon green to my home decor...
1) I can do matting on an art wall like jenny or 2) neon green frames like these in the kitchen
3) neon green patterned wallpaper could really get exciting.
4) a super cool fluoro green shower wall...
WOW.
