Wallcolor Wednesday: A pretty little green room...

After a day of being out in the streets walking around I am just overjoyed that spring weather is finally arriving to the city. It has me dreaming of the most bright and vibrant colors on the walls. Especially the color GREEN...

The perfect touch of pretty femininity...
A touch of modern chic...
A touch of history...
A touch of traditional...
And a baby touch of masculine...

wide open loft spaces

Decorating other people's apartments in this city is incredibly fun, but it really makes me want to move to a new space and redecorate everything. Does anybody else ever feel that way? I am just ready to move and take on a whole new project. My lease is up in July but I am already craving some apartment shopping.
Right now, I am thinking how fun it would be to live in a large and wide open loft space...

Can you just imagine the sunlight?
I would have to get used to white walls I presume, I can't imagine the painting that would be necessary for this size of space, and I do love me some white rooms.
The large windows just scream city loft, how incredibly dreamy is that concept?
It's like what you see in movies. Gotta love that.

it's summertime somewhere...

and even though its mid winter, I am loving me some bright colors and the pretty neon shades of yellow, pinks and oranges. I really think it's California that just brings out the happy and bright girl inside of me. Of course my clothes and my home decor accessories are always changing and I so love to add gorgeous bright colors in the rotation...

Art is probably one of my favorite ways to add color as most of you already know.
I love a bright pop of color on the couch when the rest of the room is neutral. It can really add a touch of whimsy to modern +  rustic decor.

bliss in the kitch' {so obviously loving purple}

Purple is my absolute decor weakness. If I spy a bold purple room, I fall instantly. How incredibly chic is this relaxing little kitchen. So dreamy. I love the light lavender on the walls, very soothing.
Flower decals on black cabinetry. cute...
Open shelving and racks of hanging greenery. even cuter....
This little kitchenette is total domestic bliss.

P.S. This outfit is my latest obsession. A purple skirt is the most fab addition to the wardrobe don't you think?
I adore Amanda Nisbet and her eye, that pretty chair + footstool is so chic.
I love this all purple canvas. Adds the perfect amount of color to bare walls...

Style-icious Sunday: color blocking magic

Happy July 4th weekend everyone! Hope you all are enjoying the massive sales as much as I am. I am heading back to my beautiful state today...california. Beyond excited to get back home to my friends, family and that beautiful sunshine that gives me power.
In my suitcase for this trip...nothing but color! This season I am smitten with the color blocking trend, as we all know, I love neons and bright pinks! In my closet, I love solids and mixing bright colors together is the ultimate fun. In my interiors, I love bold and mixing those rad colors gives me the ultimate rush.

secret of domestic bliss #48...use wallpaper creatively

Not everyone is a fan of wallpaper but most of you know this particular decorista LOVES her some wallpaper. What I love is when people use wallpaper in super creative ways to make dramatic statements in their home. I was a smitten kitten the moment I saw this foyer. How incredibly stylish is that? Always be brave and use fabulous pattern in not-so-fabulous spaces. It will give your home that extra something special...

Decorating idea...things on walls

So here is a thought. If you don't like art or sunburst mirrors like the rest of us, it can be extremely confusing for you all to know exactly what to put on your walls. Something I have been noticing in the glossies lately are these gorgeous groupings of collections. Mary Macdonald, Miles Redd and the like, all use this clever trick for keeping the walls different and interesting. I'm totally into it.

The Decorista tip of the day...be color confident

Loving this saturday morning in LA. So excited to be back to the city of lots and lots of color!
So, as I'm sure you could get the minute I laid my eyes upon this photo, I died a little. OMG that is some major color action. How completely gorgeous is this colorful jewel toned living room spread? I mean come on, a teal chevron sofa, magenta chairs, minty green ruffled curtains. Major swoonage happening here...so please, never be afraid to use or mix lots of bold color!

Style-icious Sunday {romantically red and in love}

With Valentine's Day approaching tomorrow love is definitely in the air and red is everywhere in the city. Pops of red are all in the beautifully decorated store windows, it's so delightful to see. Today I am inspired by the look of love, red and all things romantic.

How delicious are all red walls in a library?

I am completely coveting these shoes...ooh la la...the perfect V-day accessory.

There is nothing that says LOVE like Oscar de la Renta red!

Sometimes, something as a simple pop of red in a chandelier can be so dramatic and fun.
Hope you have all enjoyed your V-day weekend.

Style-icious Sunday {mad about NEON}

I don't know if its the white + snowy winter here in nyc or what but I am craving everything NEON. It's like a pop of happiness in any weather or in any room for that matter. I'm loving hot pink lips, bright green lamps in otherwise muted rooms, pops of neon colored artwork, bright purple nail polish, anything neon lucite, yellow handbags and neon blue walls. This relaxing sunday I am taking inspiration from the gorgeous fluorescent colors of the world...they are all the rage and oh so glam!

secret of domestic bliss #43...colorful couches

When working with clients, most people shy away from color, but in the end always want a little more. It's really normal to be reluctant to dropping down a pile of cash for a bright and beautifully colored sofa.   I get it. I really do. However, in light of some recent decor discoveries, I have found that some of the most stunning spaces are using bright, colorful sofas and they look fantastic. I am starting to think that sometimes, it might be just what you need to make your home stand apart. I'm smitten over some of the couches with completely gorgeous hues. In my next apartment, I might just have to get one.

I even semi think this super vintage + retro sofa looks perfect in this uber hip space...

2011 is sure to be a fantastic year! I am so excited about what is to come in the new year for decor.

So over the moon excited about the IT color of 2011...
The Decorista's signature color!
Happy Happy Joy. I love pink, oh so much!
Ladies...tell your husbands the news.

A Color for All Seasons
Courageous. Confident. Vital. A brave new color, for a brave new world. Let the bold spirit of Honeysuckle infuse you, lift you and carry you through the year. It’s a color for every day – with nothing “everyday” about it.

My design idol, Mary McDonald, shows us exactly how its done. (obviously, she is my hero!)
 decorating with pink can be so daunting, especially because you don't want to over-do femme...
but these lovely rooms will make you think twice!
I was so ahead of the game when I got my 2011 planner. Perfectly pink!
