Style-icious Sunday {soft & modern Glamour}

It's a rainy Sunday here in Los Angeles, nothing like ever before. Rain makes me think of glamour for some reason. Burning candles, soft sunlight through the windows and watching old black and white romantic movies...sounds like a blissful day to me!
Today I am reveling in the magic of soft yet modern glamour decorating. Makes me want to get all dressed up for church today...maybe a little overdressed would be perfection.
Aren't these rooms so lovely?

A Saturday swoon worthy home

As I pack all of my things up this weekend, I find myself already dreaming up what my next home will be decorated like. Visions of so many things dance in my head. I am especially inspired by this eclectic parisian style inspired home. A little bit of modern country, a little bit of glam.
The turquoise dressers are killing me. I'm crazy about them...
and feeling uber inspired.

The Art of Living...living room layout ideas

I love the layout of this Windsor Smith living room. It's kind of perfection in my eyes.
The placement of furniture is always key in the living room.
You always want to create a focal point (something beautiful to gaze at) while at the same time making sure there are ample relaxing & conversation spaces. It is a learned art form, but here are some I like to keep around for inspiration.

I'm also kind of crazy about this home. The irregular living room floorplan is always a challenge but I love how everything is blended together so effortlessly. The odd brown leather chair over by the shelving is genius for extra seating. Something else of fabulous note is the daybed with open sides so that the space isn't broken but creates a flow, such a great idea.

Home Tour: white, pink and completely fabulous

Majorly loving this fabulous loft space I found while browsing madebygirl (who doesn't find ridiculously cool stuff on her site..right?). Pinks, purples and red, the very best of the berry hues mingle perfectly with soft creams, browns and whites.
I love the art of a really good mix in decor.
The beautiful white brick wall plays the perfect backdrop to wooden beams and glossy chandelier. Breezy white curtains seal this room with a kiss. Oh, I am so mezmerized.
High-tail it over the the gorgeous gray kitch'...my eye spies a fabulous pink fridge!

The Art of Living...mixing winter decor elements

viabliss
As I am sure you can tell, lately I have been fascinated by furs + taxidermy. I think its because they are both equally fundamental parts of winter weather decor. Los Angeles has been getting crisper by the day and I'm getting to snuggle up with my fabulous fur throws. So delicious. I love the way this editorial mixes the two elements of decor. They blend together so well... the soft & delicate texture against the hard & masculine style, its just perfection.

Have you guys checked out pinterest yet? If not, you should...its brilliant!

Dear Decorista, I want a peacock blue living room!

I love your blog. My husband and I have just bought our first house. I would like to paint the living room peacock blue and he thinks it should be white (he thinks every room should be white). Can you please post some more photos of this- I think once he sees how good it looks he won’t be afraid of the color.
 Thanks, Cathie!

The minute I read this email, I knew I had to help the girl out.
Blue walls in the home? Absolutely!!!

(I love all the blue in this room above...the blue zebra fabric is so fun!)
Everybody needs a good blue room.
I am a sucker for blue on the walls. There are so many different shades.
If he can't commit to the entire wall, why not try something like this?

secret of domestic bliss #37...simple touches of fur

Oh how these chilly LA days are so blissful. The crisp air outside combined with the beautiful sunshine just makes me so happy. As the cold air outside permeates indoors through my apartments' open windows, I am longing for warmer textures.
I love to add to the coziness in my home by simply placing small touches of faux fur all around me.
Whether it be through a fur throw or a fabulous fur rug, I love how fur instantly transforms your space to comfortable glamour so effortlessly.

It's the middle of the week and inspiration is abounding all over the internet.
I can't keep it all together, but I will tell you this...
Orange and Navy are a killer color combination and these rooms cannot begin to describe the dynamics of this combo. Effortless and extraordinary!
I urge you to not be afraid of using either color in your home as they are the ultimate
"statement making" colors!

Home Tour: a stylish + oh so fun bloggers' abode

I love decorating. I love the way people decorate. I love helping those who are in need of decorating advice. This is the reason I blog. Another reason I blog...the home tours.
I love seeing them + I loooooove sharing them with you all too.

This is the stylish home of Bijou & Boheme blog. I love the incredible sense of style. It has a sense of laid back glamour that is very easy to recreate yourself. That is key for decorating.
It's got little notes of parisian chic, some modern glamour and a bit of boho.
Enjoy.
Did I mention how much I adore all of the artwork in the home? Well, I do.
Take a peek at this stunning piece in the entryway...very clever + oh so cheeky!

Design Inspiration... wood is workin it!

There is something about wood that really has me intrigued right now.
Amazing wood flooring is breathtaking... fabulous wood furniture is back...
All wood bookcases in a library...wow! Wood patio walls...even better!
Gorgeous woods lend to the "industrial revolution" look I am so in love with lately.
In California, many older homes have wood throughout which give such a chic 70's vibe...
I would love to work with one, I can only imagine the fun that would be! *dreaming*

a Home Tour worthy of adoration

Feminine interior decor is always a favorite of mine. I love love love the look of a woman's home, it reminds me of my mom. Bright whites and pinks with floral and french accents and a touch of modern. This beautiful space is right up my alley and I wanted to share because I bet it would be right up your alley too. The name of the design firm had me at hello!
The Cross Design...i love it!

Sneak peek: e-decorating project inspiration

Hi everyone. Gosh, I feel like this week is just flying right on by.
I am currently in the midst of an E-decorating project...and I am in love with it.
Above is a sneak peak of the beginning stages, it's looking sooooo good.
I wanted to share with you, a few of the inspiration photos.
Very classic, black and white little bits of gray and lots of sophistication.
I just can't wait to share the final project!!! stay tuned.

The Decorista Trend Spotting...industrial revolution

The time is coming and the industrial chic look is taking over the world of decor.
Its very winter-friendly and is what I imagine London and Scandinavian homes to look like.
I quite like the look of worn leather and exposed metals, I also love weathered wood in any space. It is the perfect look to work with the harshness of metals.
The photo above really gives an essence of the "industrial revolution" (my term for the look) type of decor that I am drawn to. Ochre and Halo are two shops I suggest for shopping for this look.
What I really love about this look is that it can translate as an addition to any style of decor through really fantastic pieces. Take for instance, this gorgeous industrial chair, it could totally go in a glamorous room if done the right way, of course.
