flowers can be a girls best friend too

via adaanddarcy
Its pretty obvious I love pretty and beautiful things in my home.
Flowers are no exception.
I have been on the search for different ways to add beautiful floral elements in my home.
Sometimes the smell of a fresh bouquet makes me feel complete and other times I stumble upon a pillow, chair or even wallpaper whose floral pattern makes me feel blissful!
For now I will luxuriate in the ever so amazing inspiring images found on the web.
love them.

Designing for a cause: Bonesteel Trout Hall

Vanessa DeVargas of Turquoise LA has put together a charity design event.
Different designers from all over LA are putting their efforts into designing an emergency shelter for families in need.
I am so excited to attend this event so I get to see all of the brilliant work that these women will put out there, for a cause.
One key designer will be Jessica Brende from Bonesteel Trout Hall.
This design firm is one of my favorites in Southern California.
You may have seen their work in House Beautiful or Architectural Digest.
I absolutely love what they do, please check out their website or the event today if you are in the Los Angeles area.
Here is some of their work that I absolutely admire.
Enjoy!

wishing i lived here right now

I am kinda loving Kristen Bell right now.
I am sooo loving her home and wishing I could move in.
Instyle did a spread on her home a while ago and I fell in love with the ottoman in her living room instantly. It makes me think of spring and I am so ready for spring.
She uses wallpaper everywhere, even her ceilings. love that.
and really, who wouldn't want to sit on that outdoor patio on a sunny LA day?

artist abode: Jimmie Karlsson

I deal with artists all the time. I love them. I feel I am one.
This artist happens to be a furniture designer by day.
Jimmie Karlsson.
His London flat is insane.
He is one half of the furniture design co, Jimmie Martin.

Jimmie Martin makes these chairs you have probably seen before.

The black + white with pops of color is genius.

Check out more of his digs at Living Etc.

How rad is his graffiti wallpaper???

dogs + design blogs

I am such a sucker for dogs.
I am so happy that we were able to finally rescue me a pretty princess for myself!
Now I am falling for dog photos in beautiful interiors.
Colleen Paige has some great interior design tip with the pets in mind.
Check out her magazine Pet Home Mag.
She has some great stuff to see including photography of her favorite furry friends.

Here are some more pics I found in the blogworld today...
Could you just die?

Now I'm off to take some pictures of my little princess Sophie Rose, in her new home.

Do it yourself: framed wallpaper panels

Last night while looking through all my magazines, I came across an old Better Homes and Gardens Do it Yourself Issue. I was happily surprised to find this dining room!
The home owner is Hollis Erickson of Roberts Erickson Design
While looking at House of Turqouise blog (one of my favorites) this morning, I recognized her bedroom and hence found Hollis's blog. I was so happy to find these images online! yay!

I am loving everything about this design team. Here are some images from her home and blog.
I desperately want to re create the framed wallpaper panels for my own home! It's my next project.

Z is for Zebra

Each new year I find so exciting...
because it means my birthday is right around the corner, 8 days to be exact!
While looking around + searching for the perfect new handbag
to start the 29th year of my life off right,
I found an amazing  zebra skin handbag at Coach
I guess its going to be all the rage this year, along with the color gray.

It looks beautiful.

It also brought me to searching interiors for the delicious zebra pattern.
There is something so hip about zebra,
I don't know what it is...but I am loving it.

how rockstar would you be with this bathtub in your home?

If I am ever fortunate enough to buy a house with stairs, I am sooo doing this!

Rooms that rock my world!

While reading my heart out in the blogging world today, I came across this photo
from the fantastic blog, by Julie, bellemaison.
I absolutely love her blog and all of her inspirational images.
This one peaks my interest especially because I am so feeling purple right now.
My bedroom is purple and gold, but I love the way the green provides a fun color to pop with.
This pictures just screams 'domestic bliss'!!!

XOXO

I just love Monday nights, the weekend is over and I have already begun to attack my week.
Feeling good...
and now I am awaiting my ritual monday evening Gossip Girl fiesta.
We all get cozy on the couch and watch the lives of our most favorite
New York socialites.
So good and juicy.
I love the Van Der Woodsen apartment.
Isn't it fantastic?

Kelly Wearstler HUE

It's here, It's here! It's finally here.
I have been awaiting this book for oh so long.
It is perfectly titled, 'Hue', because the colors in this book are outrageous
I respect her so much because she breaks the mold every time.
True 70's + 80's style is back in and her whimsical style gives it the perfect complements.
I am reading through it and devouring the pages over and over.
I think for any girl who loves to decorate, this book will give you some insight for what's to come in design.
I heart kelly wearstler!
(always the ultimate cover girl)
(so loving purple and gold right now)
(wow)

Design IdoL: Abigail Ahern

Abigail Ahern is the wonderfully talented mastermind behind the book 'A girls guide to Decorating'. This woman is mind-blowingly creative and actually pretty funny too. Her style is followed by most design fanatics in the UK. She has a sort of fun and free approach to decorating. She has a book out, a textiles line, fantastic wallpapers, and some tounge-in-cheeck accessories to boot. She has accomplished so much for herself, how could she not be my idol? This woman is definitely one to watch out for, she will be world famous someday!

great idea to add some funk to a classy home
taxidermy in the home is so NOW!

can't wait till this book arrives at my home (ordered yesterday)
this wallpaper is genius

60's style

While researching 1960's Interiors here, I found some awesome images from the Practical Encyclopedia of Good Decorating and Home Improvement. The 60's must have been a blast, the fashion from the 60's is out of control (in a good way) and from what I have gathered the interiors were fabulous as well. The use of color is so bold and exciting. I would love to have done house tours back then! Imagine the fun! I think being a set decorator for a tv show or movie set in the 60's would be a definite DREAM PROJECT!

Book Club

Anyone who knows me well KNOWS that I love kelly wearstler. She has been my design idol ever since the first day I visited Santa Monica and saw the Viceroy hotel. At my first job in LA, I actually got to meet her and I felt like I had met the president of the United States. This woman is incredible. Her designs are FANTASTIC, too! Her latest book, HUE, doesn't come out for a bit but I am on the waiting list, to get on the pre-order list because I cant stop daydreaming about what might actually be in it. (Hopefully some images of her home) It will feed me more than you know! I can hardly contain my excitement!!!!

YOU GOTTA SEE THIS!!! Fashion meets home.

Eileen Kathryn Boyd of EKB Interiors is on of my design IDOLS and her site is an amazing array of inspirational designs. She has great advice as well, I would love if she wrote a book. Now before you rush over to her blog, check out some of her design tips. Also, a link is posted below for a live video of some of her best insider tips and tricks on mixing fashion into your home! Enjoy!

Design Tips

DO start a reference file of inspiring pieces for the room you want to decorate.

DO use jazzy fabrics on pillows and ottomans that can be easily changed out according to season.

DON'T be afraid to use a strong color on the walls. Paint is the least expensive way to totally change a room's appearance.

DO avoid using floral fabrics on sofas—unless you know you'll never tire of it. Try and keep to solids and small geometrics.

DO consider the lighting effects in the room. Will there be an influence of natural light? Will you need ceiling lighting or will lamplight be enough?

DO keep your vision clear—you can be easily seduced in other directions.

DON'T use a rug that's too small—the furniture will appear to hang off of it, making the room appear smaller.

DO beware of scale and proportion and how all the elements come into play.

DON'T forget to break some rules and most importantly to have fun with it!

DESIGN IDOL: TURQUOISE

I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS INSPIRATION BOARD! It's by none other than the founder of TURQUOISE!

Turquoise LA is absolutely one of my most favorite blogs. Vanessa De Vargas is THE woman to watch for all things, style, design, furniture, innovation, etc. I love that she has the same passion that I do for vintage antique furniture. She also has created a designers networking event that I cannot wait to attend. She is brilliant! I can't wait to check out her space.

Check her out here!

Here are some images of her (in my opinion) AMAZING work!!!
