NYC city girl style...from Harpers Bazaar

I am just loving this Jen Brill girl and her adorable manhattan apartment.
Oh how sometimes I wish I lived in NYC.
How 'effortlessly chic' is her pad? It is ridiculously pretty + plush! She is a photographer's agent and I can only imagine the incredible works of art that hang in her space.  Pair that with her velvet settee + sofa (my latest obsession)...and its just absolutely EVERYTHING I need in my life.
The decorator behind her space is Rafael de Cárdenas. the brains behind this gorgeousness,

The Art of Living: I am woman!

I don't know what it is right now but I am completely attuned to the art in the world.
I am drawn to extremely feminine art...especially nude female portraits and photography.
There is something very mysterious and romantic about women in art, I am often drawn to the story behind the piece the most. Who the woman in the photo is and what her life was like at that moment.
I love being a woman and I love feeling feminine and art like this is just so beautiful!

i've got NY on my mind...

Today all I can think about is NYC and I have fallen in love with this adorable Hamptons hideaway.
Check out this adorable apartment with brightly colored walls, fantastic art and great furniture.
This kitchen is so fabulous, I would love to entertain an outdoor dinner party here.
Lillian Bakhash's home is featured in NY Times house + garden section...there are more pictures of the modern and playful pad, enjoy!

secret of domestic bliss #28...art in the bedroom

There is something magical + meaningful about the art placed in a bedroom.
Being that the bedroom is the most intimate and personal room in a home, the art placed on the walls should contain a sentimental or emotional attachment.
I am always fascinated by the art people choose. I feel like its sort of a window to their heart.
Choosing the right art to make your bedroom beautiful is not about rules or being too matchy-matchy...
its all about being you and bringing what you love to your private space.

decorista inspired art walls

The weekends in LA are just getting better and better.
The sun is shining and everyone is bustling about here in beverly hills. I am just loving it!
Totally why I moved out here from Texas....these are the moments I remember why.

This weekend I am on a mission! The art wall in my room needs some art, and not just a few bits but I want my wall covered in beautiful art.
I am always inspired by the gallery and I am extremely inspired by some of these walls that are filled with art from wall to wall.
I just love the way it looks, something about the way an art wall can capture personality is so inviting.
My sweet friend Jami and I are hanging out today and hitting up Dwell on Design .
Hopefully I will get inspiration there too, for now, he is what is speaking to my heart...

currently craving a little history and romance

There is something so very romantic about candles + dark rooms.
I don't know what it is, but I find it intoxicating!
Lately, I have been really inspired by anything that might resemble a bit of history or romance in interior design.
One of the most beautiful ways to add a nod to the past is by decorating with vintage portraits.
Gorgeous portraits of beautiful women, historical gents or breathtaking scenery evoke  a sense of mystery.
I always find myself thinking about the stories behind antique paintings like these.
(a la the girl with the pearl earring...i loved that movie)
Don't they just look lovely?

art + room and office space of the day {kelly wearstler}

In this June's issue of Instyle Kelly Wearstler opens up about her office space...
"My office space feels so festive-the artwork by Lana Gomez pulls it all together. It's like an outfit that you put on and think, Wow, that looks great!"
(I'm was thrilled to find out who the artist is, because I have been dying to check out her work.)
