Decor Affections for the 70's

Yesterday for Mothers Day, I told you guys a bit about my fond affections for the 70's. So, as you can imagine, when I spotted these photos from House Beautiful 1971 I went ballistic. How curiously similar are the decor styles in these photos compared to what's in right now...2011? It's insanely good. I love how styles in fashion and in home come back around again.

While thrifting last weekend, I found a decorating book from the late 70's.

It is jam packed with decorating tips, color schemes (yikes!) and also a big series on budget decorating... (choosing a designer decorated room and re-creating the look for way less)

Here is the one that stood out to me the most.

Can you guess which room was $5000 and which was $500?

Also, can you recognize the items that are still stylish in designer rooms today?
