Style-icious Sunday: Decorista Pink

When I spoke at the CRAVE NYC chat earlier this week (I will do a re-cap for you all very soon) a lot of people asked me about my visual branding of the blog...
They asked me why I chose the style and look that I did and I was very quick to point out that the first thing I knew that I wanted when thinking of my blog brand was PINK. HOT PINK.
Why? Because I am a total girlie girl and for me girlie = pink. It's also bold, fierce and totally stands out in a crowd. The best way is to add a dash of hot pink to any mix and it instantly perks up the look.
Like this chair. the pop of pink excites me!
Studies show that the color pink inspires love and makes you just feel...happy!
This is how I would add pink to my office space...
and I just really want to live here....

I love the teeny stemware in the photo above, a collection of these can be so chic.
I always love yummy desserts on tables...so girlie. All white with hints of gold just makes me swoon.

office space of the day...i'll never tire of a dash of pink

As I have been working on my e-book and spending hours at my desk...my need for the perfect office space is growing more and more. Unfortunately, I don't have that much space in my teeny apartment but I am going to see what I can do, it's a process. What I do know is that I  might have to add a little pink.

The right artwork is to a room as the perfect belt is to an outfit. It's so necessary if you are wanting to convey some serious style. I love art. In fact, most of you don't know, before I went out and started my own business, I was working at an art gallery in Beverly Hills. It's extremely important for art to be personal AND stylish. It gives a room a bit of movement, art absolutely can lend itself to creating the mood for your room. So important. Lately, I am loving photographs and these fabulous finds...
We have all seen this gorgeous Elizabeth Taylor piece, and its pink! Hello. Totally decorista!
black fading into gold, the is the epitome of sophisticated chic...
I adore the way this butterly gives a fluttery feeling to the room, very whimsical.
Absolutely and I mean absolutely NOTHING says mad style like an Andy Warhol print.

Wallcolor Wednesday... multi faceted color

How fabulous is this mutli colored room? Reminds me a little of a global or exotic hotel that I'm dying to escape to. I love that there are 3 different colors of paint used here... its just so rich + saturated. I am all about bold colors + mixing it up lately. Which lead me to believe a little bit more in mixing wall colors, I am usually not a fan but these well done combinations are twisting my arm and have me thinking...
"I can work with that!"

Decorating for Spring with Ruthie Sommers

Ruthie Sommers is a long time favorite interior decorista of mine. I love that she is not afraid of color. The minute I saw these pictures of her California home, I immediately got so excited for spring. I'm so ready for sunshine and lighter clothing that is all over the magazines these days. I am patiently anticipating the manhattan days I can spend reading a book at central park with no gloves on. Oh, Ruthie, she just gets my decorator mind going...Her master bedroom is one of my favorite girlie bedrooms ever! It's gorgeous. I am loving this home and so ready for the brighter colors that are spring...

Wallcolor Wednesday... signature decorista PINK

Pink is all the rage this year. It's everywhere you look... fashion, accessories and home decor. Hot pink is  The Decorista signature color so  I will always be a huge supporter of pink on the walls. True, most people will be intimidated by the color (especially the male population) but that doesn't make it any less worthy of being used. It always makes for a great accent wall and I hardly think it will leave you with a boring looking home. So, today I have corralled a post of beautiful PINK inspiration....

(I have also added a new feature to the blog to allow for easier reading...you can choose the posts you want to read by clicking on the jump)

Pretty in PINK...a perfectly wallpapered living room

Good morning my lovely Decoristas! I loved all of the feedback on the wallpaper I love...thanks so much! After that post, my adorable reader Jackie sent me these photos of her living room, I fell instantly. So bright and cheerful, I love the way aqua blue just makes a space so happy. I also love how she just used dramatic wallpaper on one wall, which is a clever and easy thing to do. Have any of you guys tried using wallpaper in your home?
If so, send me photos...ashlina@thedecorista.com. I'd love to see!

Wallpapers of the week...

Today, I am making the track down to Brooklyn (my first time) to do a little shopping with one of my most favorite clients. Our first mission...wallpaper. We are basically wallpapering her entire apartment, which is so exciting, especially for this decorista. I think we are going to convince her husband that a python wallpaper bathroom would be killer! yay! Anyway...today my mind is entirely focused and obsessing over wallpaper and I wanted to share a few I love...

I think my most favorite are neutral wallpapers and grey-ish wallpapers, ones with simple patterns. I especially love metallic wallpapers. The more natural looking, the more I love it. But never underestimate the power of color and dramatic wallpaper... its amazing too.

secret of domestic bliss #45...good color combos

There are so many ways to achieve a well decorated look for your home. A great start is choosing the ideal color combination or scheme. I know its difficult for a lot of people to decide on a color story, thats why they hire decorators. I do e-decorating color consultations, too. The right color combination can do wonders on any space and create amazing impact that you will love! The goal is to fall in LOVE with where you live.
One of my favorite combos right now is gray and pink. So adorable. You can infuse color into almost anything. Fabrics in the bedrooms, delicious pops of colors on beautiful chairs, painted furniture, beautiful pillows, artwork, etc. It's so much fun to play around with color... pink and gray get along so famously, I just knew I had to share.
