beautiful Sundays in Sausilito...Apartment Therapy Home Tour

Hope you all are enjoying this beautiful Sunday.
The weather in the summer is so lovely, I just love every minute of it.
Today, I am remembering the beautiful little apartment of Beth, from Apartment Therapy small, cool home contest. I fell in love with her cute little bungalow and they finally put up her home tour.
It's such fun to look around at her quirky style.
enjoy!

secret of domestic bliss #23... decorate with your magazines + books

If you are like me and a self professed "design nerd", you probably have more books and magazines than you know what to do with. I mean, we all love a good bookcase filled with tons and tons of fabulous books, but what happens when you run out of room and places to put your
treasured reads....stacks and stacks of books + magazines.
My mom used to sneak in my room and throw them all away so when I finally moved out on my own I started to keep every single one...you can imagine I have quite a collection.
I have learned that It doesn't have to look junky (see mom!).
You certainly can make your home look chic and stylish with stacks and stacks of mags + books.
Don't you agree?
(this is my aunts house in NYC....and it looks uber sophisticated with piles of books)

(i love books in the kitchen...something carrie bradshaw would do)

loving how this blogger rocked the stacks look in her home studio...

or you can be really clever and do a little something like this. love!

bliss in the kitch' {an Austin Artists' Abode}

This post is a shout out to my hometown, Austin, Tx. I love you Austin!
Photographer Dave Mead resides here in this vintage, country, and retro adorable home with his gorgeous wife and son. The best way to describe his style...ECLECTIC.
I am blown away by the uber cool style, quirky + artistic pieces of art and how that much wood isn't making me want to vomit.
It's very similar to 'Loz Feliz chic' here in Los Angeles, I can totally dig it.

Decorista Trend Spotting: Bubble Chandelier + DIY

This gorgeous bathroom was featured on KDID during her trip to the
San Francisco Decorator showcase (so wish i could have been there)
and with my recent obsession/fascination with lighting...i thought i'd go ahead and share.
Isn't she lovely?
I think it all started at the Gramercy Hotel lobby in NYC.
This is why I LOVE hotel design, whatever the trend they make it perfection.
Want to learn how to make your very own?
Check out my sweet friend Alison and her DIY tutorial...her creation blew me away!

The Art of Living...decorate like Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City 2

decorating with collections + Palm Springs vintage shopping

Happy Cinco de Mayo everybody! Hope you guys are ready for a fun day...
The past few weeks have been very busy for me.
I have been on a shopping spree for my online store that I will be opening soon (stay tuned).
I have hit up my favorite spots all over LA and Palm Springs with gusto. It has been a blast!
The shops in Palm Springs just blow my mind, they have the most amazing and rare items.
One thing I love is the abundance of collections and I really love decorating with collections.
Here are my favorite collections I found on this particular shopping excursion.

The above collections were found at one 'must shop' Palm Springs boutique... Bon Vivant.
 Rare and gorgeous glass (similar to the glass in the Parker Hotel). I think this glass in collections would be gorgeous in any home. These brass owls are adorable too, it was so hard not to want the entire group of cute little guys.

These gorgeous horses and uber cool vintage VW beetles are from HEDGE. It's a ridiculously gorgeous + fun vintage furnishings store in Palm Springs, that I just could not get enough of.
{Kelly Wearstler + Trina Turk shop here}
The guys who own the store are out of control friendly...if you ever get to go ask for the special iced coffee. It's delicious!
{I was so smitten with those VW beetles, I had to come home with the pink one...too cute!}

Here are some more shots of the packed with goodies store.

apartment therapy: a perfect NY apartment + Rita Konig NY english

I am absolutely smitten with this adorable NYC Hamilton Heights Bungalow.
Decorated by Nicole and only a teeny 650 sqft.
I love the gorgeous gray walls and extremely cozy vibe.
It's very Domino mag, no?

and speaking of domino mag,
Rita Konig (one of my personal idols) lives here...

and I am BEYOND in love with the place!

Hillary Thomas Interior Design...and the beautiful color sea foam green

Hillary Thomas
Designer. Wife. Mom.
and she is from Brentwood
(my fave neighborhood in LA)
Does it get any better?
This woman is just so fantastic. I have totally fallen for her style.
This particular image has my heart because I spotted this adorable little elephant (my obsession).
Isn't he cute? He happens to be in this irresistible sea foam green color.
 It seems to be a particular favorite of miss Thomas and I must admit is starting to become a favorite of mine as well. It mixes with so well with other colors that I adore.
Enjoy these photos...and if you feel the need for some more eye candy check out her site!

secret of domestic bliss #20...a well decorated coffee table

I am currently working on giving a revamp to an apartment here in my neighborhood.
First up, the living room has got to be given some life.
One surefire way to give a living room a little spice is by jazzing up the coffee table.
Most homes have a remote or two and maybe some coasters, if they are smart.
By all means dwellers, liven up your r + r area with some of your favorite accessories.
Books, cool looking objects, you might even throw a candle or two in the mix.
Whatever you love, display it right in front of you so that you may actually get some use out of it.
The books on my coffee table are the ones I flip through the most.
Displays your favorite things with pride and remember...don't forget to use trays!

Tinsley Mortimer's Apartment {High Society Finale}

Did you guys catch the finale of High Society last night?
I hate to admit it, but I am a big fan of the show.
It's one of those shows you just can stop watching. Sigh.
Mostly because I think Tinsley's style is oh so glamorous and fun.
Her digs are on that same amazingness level.

Here is one pic I found from her new apartment on the show.
{I really love the chairs at the end of the bed...and that headboard looks pretty stylish as well}
{adorable dress + booties too!}
And now here are some images from her old apartment with her husband.
{I happen to think these red console tables with blue + white china on top are PERFECTION!}
I think I would be in heaven if I had a closet like hers!
{the wallpaper in this image is ridiculous}
I am really loving the blue and white theme going on here.
This tablescape is oh so traditional  sophisticated.
What do you guys think?
Do you love her sophisticated blue and white style?

tobi fairley just rocks my world {beautiful black and white floral wallpaper}

Dear amazing + beautiful readers,
Please understand I don't mean to bore you with this post (there is no real point behind it) but I absolutely have
a huge crush on this photo.
The wallpaper, the sunburst mirror peeping out in the back, that greek key bordered table, the lamp, the Chanel bag and yellow pumps.

secret of domestic bliss #18... decorating with vintage photography

If you flip open your favorite design books and magazines, it is likely that you will see photography in the homes of extremely chic and glamorous people.
Being that I work in a photography art gallery, I have an extreme appreciation for vintage photography.
A photo creates a mood and can often conjure up a special memory.
It can speak volumes of your personality and style and gives a sophisticated touch to your home.
Lately, I have been seeing photography more and more in my favorite spaces and I am loving the look of these dynamic shots.
Black and whites are forever classic although sometimes I am drawn to shots with a punch of color!

secret of domestic bliss #17...decorating la baignoire

ooh la la. le bathtub.
it's probably one of my most favorite places in the world.
After a long day at work or tired from entertaining your friends and family,
there is nothing more luxurious that indulging yourself with a nice, long bubble bath.
Obviously it's going to be heaven to soak with your favorite candles burning or lovely bath oils...
but don't under estimate the power of a well dressed bathroom.
This is the place to literally create the sanctuary of your dreams.
Go extravagant...make it your own. Your 'me time' will thank you.
