keeping up with the glossies!

So usually when I buy design magazines I buy like 4-5 at a time.
Then I fly through each one, devouring the images and then I'm done.
I'm always wanting more.
For some reason, the March issue of Elle Decor has me hooked.
I can't put it down.
I especially love the room on the cover...It's the home of the executive producer of the Oprah Winfrey show. So of course Nate Berkus ended up doing the design.
The dark blue walls have me wanting to repaint my apartment.

It's incredible....so grown up. I love it.

in the mood for pink + red

Pink + Red.
The colors of Valentine's day,
The colors of love.
It should be used with caution, however, because the colors evoke romance.
Nobody can deny a little romance in their home...its much too blissful!
Hope you are all having a happy weekend and getting your home ready for the month of love.

flowers can be a girls best friend too

via adaanddarcy
Its pretty obvious I love pretty and beautiful things in my home.
Flowers are no exception.
I have been on the search for different ways to add beautiful floral elements in my home.
Sometimes the smell of a fresh bouquet makes me feel complete and other times I stumble upon a pillow, chair or even wallpaper whose floral pattern makes me feel blissful!
For now I will luxuriate in the ever so amazing inspiring images found on the web.
love them.

wishing i lived here right now

I am kinda loving Kristen Bell right now.
I am sooo loving her home and wishing I could move in.
Instyle did a spread on her home a while ago and I fell in love with the ottoman in her living room instantly. It makes me think of spring and I am so ready for spring.
She uses wallpaper everywhere, even her ceilings. love that.
and really, who wouldn't want to sit on that outdoor patio on a sunny LA day?

loving her style: Erinn Valencich

Erinn Valencich...
most of you already know about her and have seen her work in numerous publications.
She is definitely one of my idols + person i'd die to meet.
She runs OMNIARTE design in Los Angeles, where she styles everything under the sun
including, interiors, tv, photography, events, dinner parties, etc.
She has a long list of celebrity clientele and works in many hotels.
Her work inspires me so much. I wish I was this woman!

pretty stylish, right???

inspiration...for the little ones.

I can't get over the anticipation of having a new member to our family.
My little brother will be having my parents first grandchild...this is huge!
Nothing on earth is more exciting that me getting a baby girl to spoil and obsess over.
My mom is over the moon! expectedly...

In light of this occasion, they are in the process of decorating the nursery.
A lot of moms I know haven't the first clue of how to begin decorating this room.
I am going to make it a little bit easier with some
images of inspiration
for my baby niece's new room.

Allow me to share some of my favorites...

bedroom inspiration: romantic bohemian

So my sister's bedroom is my first plan of action.
She wants lots of color, floral motifs, a boudoir feeling, art + lots of books.
I kinda am feeling a coral color...mixed with white bedding, candles, displays of jewelry and feminine art.
Here are a few images that are going on the mood board.
Now its off to shop for fabrics!
I plan on starting by making her curtains + pillows with my sewing machine
so I can get the perfect look...
shopping for the perfect pair can be so hard sometimes.
Now...if only I could make them with scalloped edges like the ones below.

working for the weekend...

hope everyone is having a happy weekend!

My sister and I finally picked out her new digs in Brentwood.
She has hired me as her designer, and we got full permission to upgrade her new
cottage rental any way we choose to, or should I say...I choose to.
(my sister and I have exact opposite taste)
Yahoo!
(i'm dreaming it could be like the inspiration photo above)
So...
Designer mode is kicking in and we are off to the bookstore to buy way too many
inspiring design books.
I can't wait to get started!!!

well... I kinda already did.
...been brainstorming and sketching all morning!

idol: Paul Costello

Photography is one of those professions that I wish I would have taken in college.
I love the way photos capture the essence of the subject.
This photographer is no exception to those that capture brilliance.
You have seen his work in the glossy magazines that we adore so much.
Paul Costello rocks my world with his photographs of interiors.
He has plenty of work on his website for your viewing pleasure.
Here are a few of my favorites.
I just love the way he captures women in their domestic blissfulness.

(i love these blue china plates)
i soooo want to cook in this kitchen

loving the zebra
i am desperately wishing i was in a photography class right now.
i just think i might need to enroll.

in need of inspiration!

I have a few projects this January.
My sister just turned 30, got a job promotion is looking for a condo + the man of her dreams. She wants a grown up apartment and she has hired me as her decorator.
Exciting...? YES!
but...I have a blank slate and I need some ideas.
I am loving all the inspiration I can get right now...

easy sunday

This is my theme today.
I love my Sundays..they are for church, rest, relaxation + reflection.
I have so much to be thankful for, including the beauty of the world around me.
It's best to take some time out for yourself on Sunday, so that we can
attack Monday with greatness. It helps the mind, body + spirit.
And if I have learned anything from yoga, it is that my mind, body + spirit needs all it can get.
Enjoy the beautiful day, wherever in the world you might be!

merry christmas eve...

Having finished stuffing my self silly, unwrapped all of my presents, watched a billion youtube videos and played enough board games, I find myself browsing the world wide web.
It's like a mini-world that doesn't close on Christmas and most of my favorite online stores are already having sales. I love this part of Christmas.
In addition to shopping, I have been broadening my mind files of art filled interiors.
I am fascinated by art and how art is placed within one's home.
I found this image over at apartment therapy, and while searching for more,
I couldn't keep myself away.
I think this art is so funky, and I really love how such different forms of art are placed on the wall and make a cool mix. I'm always looking for cool contemporary art.

And now just a few more images that look like art to me...

gold rush

Metallics have been making a huge comeback and this Christmas I have been bringing gold back into my home. I think it brings a bit of glamour to any outfit of any room.
I'm spending my holidays in Palm Springs this year, hoping to get some vintage shopping in.
I am ever in search of the perfect gold items to put some pizazz into my pad.
Here are some of my most inspirational favorites.

(where i am dreaming of writing Christmas Cards)
(where i wish i was dreaming)
