dining room delights...the perfect dining chair

Today, I've got lots to get ready for before the end of the weekend. The Architectural Digest NYC show is on and I am so excited to check it out. But before all of that goodness, I have to get a few friends over for a dinner party (on of my best friends is in town to visit) and we are needing some extra seating in here, asap.
Lately, I'm into the look of patterned dining room chairs. In an otherwise plain room, a pop of pattern can give some energy and movement. I love how these greek key esque chairs look in this ultra sophisticated dining room. However, not only do graphic patterns go well, great color and fabulous textures can do amazing things too.

Some of my favorite dining room chairs...

loving this "liv-chic" space and the woodson & rummerfield green velvet chairs. GORGEOUS!

Wallcolor Wednesday... lovely light blue

There are so many color options for walls that just the thought of painting a new apartment is daunting. Luckily, I am already leaning in one particular direction...right now I am entranced by the beautiful bright colors of spring but for some reason I am loving lovely light almost a pastel, tiffany blue on the walls. It's incredibly calming and serene and everything you need for a beautiful room this spring.

office space of the day... foo dog accessorizing

white parsons desk + pretty vintage chair + ribboned panels + family photos + turquoise foo dogs =
domestic bliss

The notoriously popular foo dogs are still a little weakness of mine. They are the perfect dash of color and completely adorable!
I am obviously fond of the turquoise ones, but these yellow ones are completely chic too!

The Decorista tip of the day: decorate with juju hats

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you guys enjoyed your weekend.
I had a whirlwind of a weekend. So, I stumbled upon this seriously good flea market in Chelsea yesterday. Oh my goodness, it was like christmas morning with all of the gorgeous goodies...more than I could have imagined. It was a pleasant surprise to find an exotic dealer who had a beautiful assortment of bright and colorful juju hats. I found myself needing one badly. They are so delicious in person, if you don't have one yet, get one. They are still very much in style. Love them!

see how fabulous they look on the walls...

The Art of Living...how to display your shoes

Shoes. What girl doesn't love her shoes? Really beautiful ones are almost like art themselves. I have been known to buy an expensive pair of shoes just because I love to look at them. I once left a pair on my dresser because I didn't want them hiding in the closet...le sigh.
I love seeing clever ways to display your shoes.

here are some of my favorites...

white done right: decorating inspired by life in the city

While I love color, living in a city that is non stop energy all the time I find myself longing for a very relaxing space. And nothing is better than a beautiful white space that surpasses all necessity for any color, its so very calming. It absolutely rocks my world. Nevertheless, we all know its not really that possible to live in picture perfect white, but it is incredibly beautiful to look at. So I love sharing the inspiration with all of you...

The Decorista tip of the day...wallpaper on the ceiling

So yesterday I spent my day with the wallpaper installer. I learned so much about what is needed to ensure a proper ceiling wallpaper install. Since my meeting with him, I am now strongly convinced that more people need to be wallpapering their ceilings. I will never look at a ceiling the same again.
After doing some research online, I noticed that rooms almost look empty to me should they not have some embellishment or color on the ceiling. Having seen so many photographs of gorgeous interiors, don't you all agree?

for the fabulousness that is wallpaper magic...

look! even Kelly Wearstler does it...

Home Tour: Angela Cunha's black and white stripes

This super fun + modern home tour is the home of Angela Cunha, a portugese interior designer. She sent me some lovely photos of her home so I thought they would be perfect to share with all of you. What impressed me right off the bat are the abundance of black and white stripes throughout her space. I am absolutely crazy about the black, gray and white striped wall. So clever and stylish. It's really a job well done.

A House Beautiful: Decorating with Healing & Barsanti

I'm sure most of you caught this One Day make-over in House Beautiful. I fell instantly for the use of the color purple (my favorite color). After this article, I knew I had to go check out the work of HB Home. Just as I had expected...I was extremely impressed. I love the uses of color, textures and patterns. Very chic. They have locations all over the east coast and I had no idea. Now I need to rush out the door and go check out the NYC showroom. Yay. Shopping!

See my picks from their incredible portfolio...
HB Home uses incredible chinoiserie wallpapers, gorgeous inlaid bone pieces, bright peach sofas, colorful pillows with vibrant patterns, graphic curtains, oversized ottomans, and beautiful lamps.

living luxurious...introducing dabble magazine

Over the top glamour-i-cious decorating makes me weak in the knees. Second to that, traveling the world and looking at the design + decor of different cities and cultures excites me! and what is better than tasting the most delicious and tasty cuisines, too? Dabble Magazine, a new kid on the scene, is a new addiction of mine. Design, Travel and Food... nothing better. You've got to check it out!

Bliss in the kitch' & breakfast nook bliss

I truly believe that the kitchen is the heart of the home. On Saturday mornings, there is nowhere I'd rather be. This cute little grey kitchen just looks like pure happiness to me. I love the cute little ghost chair at the gorgeous wood table. Such a great mix of styles. The perfect compliment to a beautiful kitchen =
great breakfast nooks. Here are some that took my breath away...

Today I will be spending most of the day, sipping delicious coffee and working away at some projects on my computer. Lighting candles and a little music in the background...domestic bliss at its best.

Designer Crush: Estefania Carrero, Architectural Digest Spain

Loving the calm, creamy color palate of this gorgeous home by Madrid designer, Estefania Carrero. A mix of traditional glamour and sophistication. I am especially LOVING the mirrors on the back wall. In NYC, every apartment could really use at least one wall of mirrors. Its incredible how large wall of mirrors can make a space feel. So important with the crazy little square footage. I am really into the style.

Now for the rest of her incredible apartment...

Gorgeous artwork, fabulous accessories, incredible patterns and textiles.

the decorista NYC apartment inspiration {alexander wang}

For the time being I am staying with family in NYC and have now made the decision to get my very own apartment in the city. So this weekend I will be prancing merrily around the town looking at real estate...something I truly love. There is so much to consider when hunting for a space (i am open to any and all advice) but of course all I can think about is the inspiration. This alexander wang apartment is so right up my alley. I love the dreamy light walls, and accents of black and white glamour. What girl wouldn't love this high glossy style.
