domestic bliss

such an extraordinary space done by the lovely and talented
Betsey Burnham.
This woman has serious talent and an incredible eye. She revived her daughter Carson's space with some serious style + pizazz. I love how she used snakeskin in little bits of the bedroom and bath.
The little eiffel towers and union jacks get me everytime!
love.

secret of domestic bliss #27... a glamorous wall of mirrors

I have decided that I need one of these mirrored screens in my world.
It's absolutely gorgeous and it reminded me of a very smart interior decor trick.
If you are looking to add big impact to a small space...just add mirrors.
It can do wonders for your home.
If you need to create more light, or add an illusion of more room in your small abode...
adding a wall of mirrors is the ultimate trick.
Layering mirrors works wonders too and can completely bring up your glamour factor!
Whether it be your closet, bathroom, bedroom, living room or kitchen,
add a wall of mirrors to the space and watch the magic unveil!
This mirrored console against this wall of mirrors just completely does it for me! love.

Dear Decorista, {a west elm bed dilemma}

Dear Decorista,
Hi there!
First things first, I absolutely love your blog!  You have no idea how excited I get when I arrive at your blog and see a new post!
I know that you're incredibly busy probably don't do this often, but as I sit here looking through your blog for some sort of inspiration to make up my mind on a large furniture purchase, I was wondering if I could get your opinion?

If you don't mind, could you recommend which bed you'd pick from West Elm?
All my best,
City Girl Amanda

City Girl,
Thank you so much for being a reader. I love love love hearing that!
I think West Elm beds are all gorgeous but here are my favorites and why I think they would look great in your bedroom. (which is gorgeous by the way...i LOVE the artwork!)

I really love the nailhead trim of this gray headboard. It's uber tailored and chic looking. I think the gray would go very well with the yellow bedding + fab artwork!
I also really love the cozy look of this grasscloth headboard. It would warm up the room a bit and give your bedroom a warmer feel...like it would make you just wanna snuggle up in bed with a good book.
Readers, what do you guys think??? Are there any west elm beds you would recommend?

headboard looks to love!

I came across this extremely adorable headboard over at apartment therapy.
Alicia created this adorable bohemian look for her apartment.
I am just smitten with it. Props to her for doing it herself too!
Makes me crave a new headboard. Here are some that I just love...
A perfectly pretty painted one is easy peasy!
Mirrors of course step it up in the Glam department!
My love for chinoiserie here is illustrated perfectly.

Dear Decorista, {tackling bed + window dilemma}

Dear Decorista,
I have a bedroom with 3 high windows on the wall that the bed would be placed on. The windows are in the center of the wall and would be centered over bed.
What type of headboard would look the best under the straight line of the windows.
I have been searching all of my magazines and cannot find a good inspirational photo.

-Judy, Olympia, Wa.

Dear Judy,
I know many people face this similar situation of having to place a headboard in front of a window.
I, myself have even had the pleasure (and frustration) of tackling this challenge.
There are so many different options you can choose from, headboards, curtains, screens, panels, etc.
I have pulled through some files for some inspiration photos for you and everybody else out there who might be dealing with the same issue.
Good luck and keep me posted on what way you choose to go!
All my love,
ashlina

Here is my own personal bedroom...
behind the curtains is a long rectangular window that hits right above the headboard.
I love the combo of curtains + headboard myself.
I love the way it looks in person.

secret of domestic bliss #22... foot of the bed benches

Oh how. I am so relieved that this week is finally over. You guys would not believe how busy + overwhelmed I have been. Family, church, friends, events, blogging, work, etc.
I am so very ready to take a long, long nap...sigh.

Which brings me to my next SODB...putting shoes on your bed!
Yes, you read that right. There is such thing as shoes for the bed...at least I think so.
I can honestly say, when I look to a bedroom for inspiration, I am always drawn to the bed dressings.
Pillows are my first eye glance, I love the textures and colors pillows can bring.
My next stop is on what is at the foot of the bed.
Most people skip this spot and I think it needs more attention. The end of the bed can be the perfect place to sit, place books, blankets, letters, etc.
It can be just what you need if you feel your bedroom is incomplete.
This weekend, if you have some extra seating around, give it a try...who knows, you might love it!
a quote to send you off...
happy weekend luuuvahs!

Rooms that rock my world!

While reading my heart out in the blogging world today, I came across this photo
from the fantastic blog, by Julie, bellemaison.
I absolutely love her blog and all of her inspirational images.
This one peaks my interest especially because I am so feeling purple right now.
My bedroom is purple and gold, but I love the way the green provides a fun color to pop with.
This pictures just screams 'domestic bliss'!!!
