The Art of Living...decorating moments of masculinity

Just like any other decorista, I go crazy for a bold and feminine room...
however, mixing in some masculinity into an interior can create such a perfect harmony.
It's almost too good to resist.
An easy way to pop in a gentleman's vibe is by using amazing taxidermy,
aka well mounted antlers.
Decorating with antlers is major unabashed masculinity and I highly recommend trying it.
If you can't stand the sight of real life anters, Zgallerie has a great collection of plastered white ones that are also incredibly chic. Check out their latest collection.

{Please note that this look can easily be overdone. So limit your creativity to soft panache.}

The Art of Living...how to display art {the lonny magazine way}

Perfecting the art of displaying your art is something that is learned over time.
There are various different approaches to the execution, there will never be a perfect way.
What I can tell you is that when carefully done and thought out,
the proper presentation naturally happens
and the outcome can be magnificent (even if you aren't a decorator).
In the latest issue of Lonny Magazine,
(october-november 2010...go take a look its sooooo good!),
I found so many fantastic images that are sure to inspire your inner art gallerina!

Home Tour: A glamorous pad you don't wanna miss!

 I love me a stylish decorista!
Tina, my new bff, a blogger and total design freak shared her home tour with me
and of course, I couldn't wait to share with all of you.
Her and her boyfriend renovated this amazing spread and it is total decorista perfection!
Stripes on walls, deep black curtains, sparkly accessories, amazing artwork, glossy black furniture and lucite goodness. Did I mention that I am crazy about the art?
This pad is absolutely my type of space!
love. love. love. love. love.

 I am just loving the fact that each of these dining rooms are based with white walls + accent colors! What a fabulous way to add a pop of style without commiting to an entire color change. This is perfect for a decorista like me, as I am obsessed with redecorating to fit my mood.
The rooms that have pink are not overtly feminine either, so husbands can deal. ;)
Supremely good + dramatic lighting tops it off with perfection and of course mismatched seating.  Swoooooooon!

Hope I inspire your weekend lovelies!
Thank you for being the best readers + commenters EVER this week.
Your comments crack me up and make my day.
love to you!

Dear Decorista, {how to decorate like Kelly Wearstler}

Dear Decorista,

Hi Ashlina,
I absolutely love your blog! I was wondering if you could help me with a design delima? I decided to paint my home office like Kelly Wearstler’s foyer (crazy raspberry graffiti like swirls). It came out wonderful! However I am completely stuck on where to go from here. I have a desk from Ikea that is a white base and a black and white glass top. Other than that, I bought a bunch of white and black accessories. I was thinking of going pool blues and turquoises but then I was thinking maybe purples, oranges and yellows could be cool? I don’t know, I’d love your input!
Kiki
 How creative is this girl? I wish I could pull off painting my home office like that. I love it!
Which is why I would love feedback from my readers!
She gave me 2 options of color ways. I have my ideas, but I am curious to know
Which colors do you think she should accessorize with?

Option #1

Option #2

she is such a trendsetter, isn't she? total rockstar!

Home Tour: tv host + lifestyle blogger Karen Bertelsen

I am just crazy about bookcases.
So you can imagine that when I stumbled upon this photo, I took a second look. As I dissected this photo, I couldn't take my eyes off that ridiculously cozy looking chair. Who wouldn't want to sit in that thing for hours? The cowhide rug + silver side table combo left me wanting more.

Style at Home did a full feature on Miss Karen (the art of doing stuff author)and her lovely home. She did it herself and it she did it in under 1 month! I am all about a girl who gets things done!
This woman has totally inspired me, I can spot out plenty of easy-to-achieve looks that I wan't to incorporate into my own home...hope she inspires you too!

I love the dining room! The wood and brick together with gold framed portrait art...gorgeous!
Don't even get me started on this living room. That mirror is my new best friend!

art + room...the many rooms of Lonny magazine

I just absolutely loved this issue of Lonny. It's always filled with such stylish spaces.
I find myself looking through the pages over and over for inspiration.
While most of us crave the decor ideas, styling tips, color schemes and gorgeous accessories...I myself, am always in admiration of the artwork. This month I am energized by the art choices.

Each work of art has such character and are statement making pieces that really resonate in my soul!
Photography, graphic prints, portraits and beautiful florals.
Oh how I just adore them all....sigh!
