Wallcolor Wednesday...beautiful, bold and black

You can do so many magical things with black. I am extremely fond of the combination of black and brass...its completely glamorous. However, greens and blues also look so very rich and decadent against black. Anything from nature like botanicals or pretty pink flowers will pop against an all black backdrop. This old spread from Domino (via moodboard showcases just how beautiful black walls can be.

the decorista Trend Spotting: brass deer

These lovely brass (and quite large) deer figurines are all the rage and I have been dying for one.
My obsession started a while back when I found a brass rams head dining table. Since then I have been coveting a brass deer and found out that my dad has one that he is sending me and I cannot wait to get my hands on that little angel. I love it.

P.S. I AM LOVING NY.
I'm getting all settled in to my adorable + cozy apartment...shopping around the cutest little neighborhoods and playing around with the pup in the snow. Too much fun.

Home Tour: Kristin Gallipolli's sophisticated retro

The minute I laid eyes on this stylish abode I knew I had to share. It's a little over the top playful + fun, but there is something different about it that really caught my eye. The orange and pink together creates a more modern vibe as opposed to a girlie one which is hard to pull off. Lots of exotic, modern and vintage pieces are paired together to create an unexpected twist on the 60's retro look. Maybe its going to for a sophisticated retro vibe, as that gorgeous lucite coffee table is completely stunning and brings the decor up a few notches.
Its a fun and whimsical space, that's why I like it. Oh, and of course the punches of color...you guys know how I feel about the colorful couch thing.

secret of domestic bliss #39... decorating with screens

Screens are absolutely essential in interior decorating. You will likely find a screen perfectly placed in a well designed home, simply because designers are so not afraid to use them. They can be intimidating for the average decorista just looking to spruce up her space because placement is key. I want you all to know, its perfectly normal. Don't let that stop you, however, from using this magical items. They can turn a drab corner into fabulousity, they make a great headboard and can even be used to divide a really big room. Let these images be your inspirational guide!

secret of domestic bliss #37...simple touches of fur

Oh how these chilly LA days are so blissful. The crisp air outside combined with the beautiful sunshine just makes me so happy. As the cold air outside permeates indoors through my apartments' open windows, I am longing for warmer textures.
I love to add to the coziness in my home by simply placing small touches of faux fur all around me.
Whether it be through a fur throw or a fabulous fur rug, I love how fur instantly transforms your space to comfortable glamour so effortlessly.

Home Tour: a stylish + oh so fun bloggers' abode

I love decorating. I love the way people decorate. I love helping those who are in need of decorating advice. This is the reason I blog. Another reason I blog...the home tours.
I love seeing them + I loooooove sharing them with you all too.

This is the stylish home of Bijou & Boheme blog. I love the incredible sense of style. It has a sense of laid back glamour that is very easy to recreate yourself. That is key for decorating.
It's got little notes of parisian chic, some modern glamour and a bit of boho.
Enjoy.
Did I mention how much I adore all of the artwork in the home? Well, I do.
Take a peek at this stunning piece in the entryway...very clever + oh so cheeky!

The Decorista Trend Spotting...industrial revolution

The time is coming and the industrial chic look is taking over the world of decor.
Its very winter-friendly and is what I imagine London and Scandinavian homes to look like.
I quite like the look of worn leather and exposed metals, I also love weathered wood in any space. It is the perfect look to work with the harshness of metals.
The photo above really gives an essence of the "industrial revolution" (my term for the look) type of decor that I am drawn to. Ochre and Halo are two shops I suggest for shopping for this look.
What I really love about this look is that it can translate as an addition to any style of decor through really fantastic pieces. Take for instance, this gorgeous industrial chair, it could totally go in a glamorous room if done the right way, of course.

secret of domestic bliss #36... marvelously decorated bookshelves

Nothing says pedigree better than a finely decorated and well stocked bookcase.
It gives the opportunity for people like me, who love looking at people's digs, an idea of who they are,
what you enjoy reading & what your interests are.
It says so much about you!
If you don't read at all, it is most certainly proper to showcase your fabulous dishware.
Whatever you fill your bookshelves with, make sure they are treasures that you are in love with.
(I'm just crazy for the ones above lined in black, simply gorgeous!)
I have always been inspired by the bookcase in Olivia Wilde's home. I love her style.
I just love the unexpected objects and typewriter as accessories.

It's brilliant to accessorize with vintage book collections, the colors are usually simlar.

When you can, I always suggest grouping in colors...it's such a sharp looking effect.

I also am a huge believer in strategically placing fabulous artwork, it can give your bookcase extreme personality.

bliss in the kitch'...dark, dreamy and delightful

I am really inspired by the majestic essence of this kitchen right now. As fall weather is coming around, I love the look of rich woods in a kitchen. It's has a very winter cabin feel that entices you to light the fire and whip up some hot cocoa. What better than to sip your warm drink whilst gazing at colorful & lovely accessories that abound? Jewel tones, pretty pinks meet sparkles & gloss in this gorgeous breakfast room. That's about as close to cabin as this LA girl is getting anytime soon.
Oh, how I miss the south...sigh.
