For as long as I can remember I have adored the Louis XV canopy chair. Each and every time I see a new one in a new color or look, I fall for it all over again. That's when I saw this photo which is completely what I am feeling this fall. Deep hunter green velvet with black wood is quite possibly the chicest combination. Its a pairing I usually wear in my clothes. The light lavender purple walls + black and white floors make it all just look so glam. How chic is that gold door knob?  Then I found this lovely dark blue beauty. These deep jewel tones are just right for me.

Normally, you don't see these in homes, they are more often used in commercial spaces due to their size + drama {kelly wearstler uses them well}. However, now, these babies are found in corners of apartments and homes all over. I think its about that time to try and convince a client of mine to put one of these or two in her home.

fall decor: dark, dramatic & moody

There is something about the colder weather that invites a moody feel. All I want to do is paint my walls dark colors and throw rich jewel tones into the mix. I'm pretty sure this look would be a little much for a home, but for that very sexy, boutique hotel it would work like charm. I love this look paired with bold hues of deep red.

Abigail Ahern is like the queen of dark and moody and you just have to love her for it. She takes these deep colors and pairs whimsical colors to keep it from being like a cave and instead is like a fabulous stage set. Tony Duquette is another decorating magician that comes to mind when I think of dark drama.
